Just Pita — Restaurant in Athens

I stop by to read place menu, was not even sure, do I want to eat there. But there is a very kind waitress and came to ask, do I possibly want to take something. That make me to make my decision and I stay to eat there a little "snack". I'm glad I stayed, I saw how good service is there, not only waitress but all who working there. I took small meal, ordered a cheese balls. Those were 5, but was bigger than I thought, with some sliced salad and sauce. That cost 3,5€ and was worth of it. I cannot eat much at once, so at least for me that was enough. Tables there are clean and the dining area has a canopy and in cold weather there are heaters, so dining is pleasant.

Food was good, service was good, place is clean and staff is very kind. I recommend that place honestly for all.

Updating: 11/ 2024 I went another time this place. I was first waiting free table, behind me was more people. Tables was full of former customers plates and other stuff. Waiters was only one, even place was full...why?

Restaurant should check the days and time, when they have a lot of customers and keep more waiter's available to do their work, so then customer's no need to wait too long, a clean table and to order the meal.

Waiter was stressed and it could saw from his face.

Reason is that he had a lot of work to do alone by himself.

About the food.

Ok, it was good, as 2 years earlier, but price is much more 6€ those 5 pcs cheese balls, it's a little bit too high price. Fried potatoes with sauce and bacon...hmm, it was ok, but for one person too much to eat. I left over half to the plate, sorry 😔, my fault, eyes eat more than stomach.

Anyway, even I needed to wait a long time, before got food front of my face, I recommend that place, but please, be prepared for that, there you need to wait guite long, before you can make your order.

Ahh, forgot one mistake, waiter didn't bring a glass for water to drink, I got only bottle,...

While we were ordering, the frustrated cashier started complaining behind our back in greek (thinking we wouldn't understand because we talked in english) because we were not fast enough in deciding (there was literally no one behind us).

We rushed to order our food and when I asked to pay they started having problems with the pos. They asked to wait while they "tried to fix" the pos.

After 5 minutes I asked if it made sense for us to wait for our food if the pos didn't work, because we had no cash and it was getting late, making it difficult to find other places open. They said to wait. I asked if they were starting to cook our food and they said yes.

10 minutes later I asked them if there were news, and they said "1 minute" turning around and ignoring us after that.

After 10 more minutes, they came to tell us that they couldn't fix the pos and that we should leave.

I mentioned the fact that we waited for almost 30 minutes and that by that time most other food stores would be closed. I proposed we could take the food and come back the next day to pay (I showed a previous payment to prove that we are returning customers), but they basically just raised the voice and repeated to leave.

At that point I realized that they never even started to prepare our food, and that they would have started only if they first managed to fix the pos.

I don’t quite really understand the high mark (4.2 as I’m writing this review) as they were many negative points during our meal experience in this restaurant

• Long wait. There is only one waiter for the whole restaurant, we waited 30min for 2 meals. Interesting concept for a fast food 😅

• Price. Okay, it’s Athens, but prices are higher than in the country side, 20% higher or so maybe. But still that is quite cheap compared to western europe countries 📈

• Service : Long as I said, but the waiter was looking desperate, not even smiling 😰

• Taste : My plate was not really that good (chicken gyros portion) ; lettuce was burnt by vinegar, no homemade fries. The chicken tasted good though, but it came quite cold, same goes for the fries. The pita though was awful and really probably industrial. 🏭

Overall mitigated experience. Go there if you are hungry and cannot wait for another spot. You’ll wait a little bit though. Otherwise, avoid; there are probably much better...
