Kokkion Monastiraki — Restaurant in Athens

I visited on the afternoon of September 11. I ordered two ice creams and two coffees. The ice cream was just ordinary gelato, but the coffee was an absolute disaster.

At first, the man making my drink was reading from a piece of paper while preparing the coffee. That’s when I already knew something was wrong. I had ordered an iced latte—nothing special, no extra requests. But he didn’t even know how to make a basic iced latte without looking at a recipe? Really?

He then threw away the coffee he made, saying something was wrong, and told me he would make it again. But instead, the woman next to him ended up making it. While doing so, she spilled coffee grounds everywhere, wiped the machine, and the whole situation was just chaos. Since I had already paid, it was difficult to cancel at that point.

And seriously, do they not know that hair should never come into contact with food? Why was she touching her hair while making my coffee? That was disgusting. When I finally took a sip, sugar granules scattered in my mouth like sand.

If neither of them knows how to make coffee, they should just admit there’s no one available instead of scamming customers. But what upset me the most was their attitude. While remaking my coffee twice, they kept joking around and chatting with each other. A simple apology would have gone a long way, and I wouldn’t even be writing...

Unimpressive..._.. 😑 I was expecting that it would be THE place for ice cream in Athens, since the owner imports the ingredients and has a passion for ice cream. There are many uncommon flavours to choose from and that seems great. Uncommon but still based on cream, chocolate, nuts & so - not anything artificially coloured. One would expect a richer flavour.

Well it was ice cream... Ok.... Like bland..... Ice cream... That makes you wonder "why am I eating this now? I don't enjoy it..."

Also it seemed it was kept on a tad cooler temperature. It wasn't really easy for the girl at the counter to scrape out the ice-cream. However it started melting on the surface really fast - on the evening of a not particularly hot day - and sort of like remained frozen beneath. Peculiar texture and consistency....

nice texture, good quality icecream but...

i couldnt taste any strawberry in "white chocolate with strawberry" flavor while white chocolate was virtually, vanilla.

the chocolate with orange and pepper was better. nice spicy feeling but it needed more orange.

the cookies had no cookies?!. maybe they mistakenly put us plain vanilla...i dont know

my kid didnt finish her ice cream

the salty caramel was promising at first bite but then the experience was ruined by large bitter chunks of caramel that weren't in harmony with the whole taste of the ice cream.

the dark chocolate with 80%chocolate was nice.

in the bottom line there are many better icecream shops in athens, which seems strange to me cause the ratings on this one are very high. maybe we got there in a bad day...
