The restaurant really lives up to its name. We visited L’ Amiral on our last night in Athens and were lucky to find it.
The place looked great, nicely decorated, with beautiful lighting and an inviting ambience. I thought "if someone takes care of their place in so much detail, they are most likely going to care of their food experience” and I was proven right.
The menu was inventive and had creative spin on traditional Greek cuisine and was interestingly unique and different to what we tried in other places Athens. The food was delightful without being over-the-top and the ingredients were fresh with amazing texture and flavour.
We started with a delightfully refreshing Dakos summer salad with tomato, cucumber, feta cheese dressed with mint pesto and lime vinaigrette. The rest of the starters were all very tasty too - definitely recommend the seabass ceviche with cucumber, kiwi and tomato and grilled octopus with baby potatoes and stewed onions. I had the slow cooked lamb shank with creamy potato puree and an distinctly aromatic rosemary sauce My partner loved his seafood pasta that came with mussels, shrimp, seabass and a delicious garlic-chilli wine sauce. At the end of our dinner they also provided a shot of Mastiha as a digestivo (a Greek sweet liqueur), which was a lovely end to our enjoyable dinner.
Great wine selection of Greek varieties and we ended up pairing our dinner with a bottle of organic wine “Oreino” from the Peloponnese region (Roditis and Moschofilero grapes – intense aroma and floral taste) and a bucket full of ice was brought to up to keep it chilled.
The staff was very friendly and welcoming, attentive to our needs and catered to our dining experience.
We will for sure be back next time we are in Athens – definitely...
Read moreWe were a group of three people. Who all has allergies!
Compared to the other restaurants that almost jump out infront of you to pull you in, we were met with a smile and a kind “tell me if I can assist you with our menu” And we quickly stated that we had a lot of allergies and were trying to figure out if we all could eat here.
She quickly jumped to explain the menu to us and was so kind to ask the chef.
We choose to sit on the rooftop which was enjoyable.
The view was beautiful and despite the heat, it was nice. It was beautifully decorated with fake flowers on the wall which gave the roof a lot of color.
The food was good! I personally Got the bruschetta which was beautifully arranged and very tasty. It was a little sweet but I did like that, since it made the food more fresh in the hot weather.
The price was a little up there, I think it was about 8-9 euros for the bruschetta and 10 or drink. Which I Ofcourse needed 2 alcoholic drinks to enjoy the view hehe!
The service was awesome! With 3 people all with 4 different allergies it made the job for the waiters a little harder. They all took it with a smile and didn’t seem to mind the extra runs to the kitchen to ask if it had anything we...
Read moreAfter walking around Athens, being dragged into restaurant by staff and not being allowed to have a look at the menu before being asked to take a seat, it was a nice first impression when the hostess and Co. owner of the establishment informed us she were there to answer any questions and then left us to have a look.
We were a hard group to please with multiple allergies, the allergies being Garlic, nuts, onion and lactose.
Even with these (I know!) very difficult terms they managed to find us all a very well tasting meal (greek salad minus feta for one, calamari for another and the last had bruschetta)
The staff were exceptionally good at asking and coordinating with the chef, which made us feel very welcome despite the difficulties we made.
We had a few drinks as well, and all were in order.
The menu was a little pricy, but for the service it was well worth every cent paid more than the norm!
Situated close to the walk up for Acropolis, and with a terrasse view of Athens that leave little to the imagination, it is a great refuge from the busy streets and aggressive tries to bring people into the other restaurants.
Thank you for an great time and amazing service! Salutations...
