On the 2nd of Feb. day Sunday, I called to book a table for taking out my team from work, 12 ppl for the 8th of Feb. at 20.30. On Thursday my phone rings and a lady says, “hello, iam calling from Nido restaurant, you called for a reservation but i wasn’t at the restaurant, so i call now for confirmation.” I ws in the middle off meeting and i was like ok, sure yes, it is still on we are coming thank you for calling. She says “ we have a two hour slot so your reservation its until 22.30” -i am sorry, this is very critical for our reservation and when i called, your colleague did not mention anything for slots. What would be the solution? there is no solution, you want to come 20.30 so i cannot book a table at 20.00, so i lose my earlier reservation and i must book another one after tou. If you want u can come earlier. If you were coming later normally i will not have another reservation so i can let you stay longer. i am like “thank you for all this oversharing, business wise i totally get u and i can change it and come at 21.00 but as a plain customer nothing of the above is my problem since nobody said anything for slots when I initially called.
We get now to Saturday. My assistant calls 3h before the reservation to Notify them that one more person has been added.
After a while that we have sat, there was no plate, fork etc for me, anyway i didn’t pay attention. Time is clicking and after 40-50 min we were there i go to a waiter and ask if there was any possibility to get me a small stool or something because i had nowhere to sit, then suddenly the manager (phone lady) jumps in thee conversation and says Tell me, what you want? (Iwant to specify that the my english are preety good and the sentences of the lady, were said exactly like this in Greek)
I repeat myself for the stool She gets back to me with the following monologue
You said that 10 people were about to come and you are 12.
I stopped her there and i tell her that as far as i know my assistant called your earlier and said that from 11 we would be 12. So i dont see the problem
She continues You said that you would be 10 and now u are 12, and i told to the woman she called that you were about to be tight. The place is small, we dont have low seats, u sould all fit to the couch. I turn my gead and see the couch, and everybody touch eachother and there is no tiny slot that someone more could fit. I go “ ok would u like me to stand on my feet all night? I can do that, just let me know that there is no other way to solve that and will stand.” I was not ironic i just wanted to finish this super awkward conversation in the middle of the restaurant like i was 15 year old rude kid.
She gets back to me I TOLD YOU THAT IF YOU COULD GIVE US A FEW MINUTES WE MIGHT FIND A STOOL FOR YOU. We dont even have low seats, we aere full booked (have of the store emplty, just saying)
-you never said that you were willing to serve me in anyway, you have been insulting me for the last 5 minutes with a pointless conversation.
I dont want waist your time, she started the whole paranoid speech FROM THE BEGINNING BY HER SELF WITH NO REASON, i was IRONICALLY nodding my head and turned my back and left.
So the conclusion is I WILL NEVER NEVER GO THERE AGAIN, the chef, the owner, the service make a really bice try, and the representative of those people is a lady with zero professionalism, zero brain flexibility, lack of manners and lack of speaking good greek. Ignored completely the fact that we were there to spend money, no pre booked menus, no budget no nothing. I am extremely sorry, for all the professionals that have invested in this restaurant, money, time, career and a woman with low self estimation projects all the insecurities and the rudeness of her soul just like that straight in the face of customers. My bill was 660euro. Mind you the restaurant was NOT FULL. WE WERE FREEZING from the cold, no heat. Outside 5...
Read moreI wouldn't call it a gastro-bar, its more like an uplifting (hey yes, the music is loud but groovy) New York-style bar. The atmosphere is energetic, in dark reddish tones, warm and bustling with millennials. The treats are really premium in ingredients, execution and flavour, sort of an (accessible) oriental fusion cooking. Mind you, the stuff at the kitchen are surprisingly young and prepare meticulously the various dishes. Start with an oyster variety and then go for the succulent calamari with chorizo. By no means should you pass the potato "cake" with black truffle. The wine list is extensive (there are some interesting, sensibly priced bottles to choose from), though I wouldn't describe the cocktails as exciting. The service is very polite and attentive. Prices are fair given the overall experience. One of the spots (there aren't many) in Athens worthy of your time and money nowadays. Book...
Read moreA trendy but very overrated addition to the Kolonaki scene. The waiter described the food as tapas and he wasn’t wrong. All the dishes are small. Maybe this a blessing as they are not particularly good.
The sardines were paired with raw cauliflower - not a nice combination. The shrimp saganaki was more like cheese balls with ceviche. The potato fries were quite tasty (even though they weren’t 100% potato). The lamb souvlaki with berries (yes, with berries!) was tasteless and not easy to eat off a stick. The pancetta was quite good but difficult to eat without a fork. There are next to no vegetables on the menu.
In this establishment you are given a pair of giant tweezers and a spoon. Whose idea was that? The tables are not comfortable to sit at and they barely fit the chairs they are paired with. Considering that Athens has many great places to eat give this...
