Let me narrate you the following story or ''How you can Still be Kicked Out of an Insignificant Place on 2019'' Saturday 14/04 16:32 Entered Philos Athens. A polite waiter is welcoming us. Waiter No1: Welcome! Do you know we are closing on 17:00? Us: Hello! Yes, we are aware of that... Waiter No1: You can sit there! (Showing us a miserable very small table under the staircase in a room isolated from the rest of the small eatery, a place where there shouldn't be a table whatsoever..) Us: No, thank you we do not like it there..Sorry..Could we sit at the rotonda? (a round table on the right of the entrance door and the only available table at the time). Waiter No1: Let me check.. After a while Manager No1: Do you know we are closing on 17:00? Us: Hello! Yes, we know that... Manager No1: Ok, wait a second. After a while Manager No2: Do you know we are closing on 17:00? Us:Yes, we are well aware of that. Manager No2: I am wondering if you will have time to eat... (In a rather rude manner) Us: We would just like to have 2 omelets.. That's it! Manager No2: We do not serve omeletes.. Us: ???!! We have been here before.. You certainly serve kagianas (type of omelet) for example! Manager No2: You could sit there. (showing us the same miserable table under the staircase) Us: Could we sit at the rotonda? Manager No2: Sorry, this table is for four persons. Exited disappointed and confused (but still neat, fragrant and polite for the...
Read morePros and cons: .great design with paying attention to details .extremely tasty food, we had shakshuka, scrambled eggs, french toasts, coffee
.noisy, birds sounds are mixing with loud music in a bad way .really expensive for Athens .we had an unpleasant conversation with staff when they asked us to leave, because we’re here already 1,5 hour and don’t have a reservation. We said that couldn’t have it because they didn’t answer on instagram. They said:they’re so busy, they usually don’t check Instagram, pls, call us. We said we’re tourists and don’t have calls according to our tariff. They said, they’re focusing on locals, but the only local we see during our visit was our friend. The restaurant was quite empty, yes, it might be all reserved, I’m not sure here.
I think, if they said smth like: we’re sorry, we’d just leave and forget about this experience, both of us would come back, because they live in Athens.
This is good restaurant, it’s worth to visit, but in order to obtain a good experience, I’d recommend to make a...
Read moreLocated right in the beating heart of Athens, Philos is one of the best places in town to get delicious brunch.
The restaurant is small but beautifully decorated in an urban fashion; indeed the building used to be an actual house built in the 30s and even though it now appears neglected, it is perfectly clean and full of plants. Its few tables allow the customers to admire the scenery while enjoying their brunch.
Speaking of few tables, it is strongly recommended to not show up without having made a reservation beforehand, as the restaurant is more often than not completely booked.
Everything coming out of the kitchen is delicious and a joy to look at; I had the pleasure of trying their signature "Philos Royale" dish which was top-notch. There's a wide variety of drinks as well.
Last but not least, the staff. It is nice, fast and fluent in English. Panayotis deserves a special mention for his excellent service sprinkled with smiles and jokes, his engaging nature significantly enhancing the "Philos...
