Was recommended trying souvlaki whilst in Greece, if you don't know what it is, it's essentially grilled meats much like a kebab mixed with a salad and some fries in a pita bread. This place was a short walk away fr where we're staying tonight so we wandered over.
Service was instant, the selection was big enough to give me a few options I couldn't choose between so the very friendly waiter gave me a couple of recommendations. I went with the pork side souvlaki and my girlfriend went for a chicken one. The food was ready in just a few minutes.
Honestly this is one of the best street food meals I've ever had. Well cooked meat, grilled just right, perfectly done fries, and a fresh salad to top it off! I nearly had a second one but I figured I should pace myself... so I guess breakfast is sorted then :D
I'd definitely recommend this place to others if you want to try some of Greece's more accessible dishes. They do burgers and have a solid, standard selection of drinks too so if a coke and burger sounds familiar then you'll avoid feeling too far from home whilst still enjoying something uniquely Greek.
...Seems that it's open all night too so perhaps I could just go back for seconds a...
Read moreWow what a way to begin our stay in Athens. We were only in the city for about 1 and a half days. While we waited for our room to be ready we stumbled across this amazing restaurant. The food was great. I had the lamb gyro and my two friends had a chicken and lamb plate. Sooo delicious. But the best part of our experience was meeting Spyros - a server at this restaurant. Not only did he go above and beyond to make sure we had a great dining experience, he offered to help us get around the Athens by being our driver for the entire time during our stay. He is so hard working humble, kind and fair. Every place we went, Spyros was only a message away on WhatsApp. He managed to magically fit all of our oversized luggage into his car and took us to the airport. His English is amazing and super easy to communicate with. HIGHLY RECOMMEND PRIGKIPAS EXARCHIA &...
Read moreHad the smoked aubergine dip here (which tasted fishy) and chicken souvlaki with fries. The souvlaki was OK but the fries were cold. This was pointed out to the server and the expression on her face was one of shock (??) to the point it seemed as if she was going to faint. After recovering, she made the oddest request & asked me to hand her one of the fries, and off she went with it. To take it back to a food lab for examination/testing?? Who knows. Cold fries are cold fries. Fresh, hot fries were eventually brought to the table, but this was all very odd. Very nice atmosphere with a DJ playing really good music, but I wouldn't go back here and nor would...
