My partner and I are very fortunate to have cultivated a close relationship with our dear friend Hara. Whenever we're in Greece, (about 8 weeks a year,) there isn't a chance that we don't get introduced to a new restaurant, (or like 2 weeks ago 2, by the way there's a new steak house in Porto Rafi called Kaspa and tripadvisor still doesn't know it exists. I say this only because I'll give it a 5* rating which I did already on Google.) Enough editorializing,
We all showed up at the appointed hour and Hara has learned that when we go to a new restaurant we need to try just about everything on the menu, so that we know if asked questions or writing a review like this we can answer them. As a result we gave it our best shot. For our starters and for sharing we had a green salad with grilled manouri cheese, toasted sesame seeds and pine nuts, From there we were served the smoked cod, with a salt cured egg yolk with a beetroot cream on the side which was phenomenal. The next little surprise was a ceviche of sea bass, coconut milk, Kalamansi vinegar with pickled radish and wakame salad. I love ceviche but this was a delightful presentation. We the enjoyed the Burrata, Bottarga cured fish roe. This was then followed by the Cretan past, smoked pancetta, Andros volaki cheese fresh tomatoes and greens. Then our last main which was served together was the spaghetti aglio e oil with mushrooms with thyme along with the famous beef burger, with bacon chutney, mature cheddar cheese and coleslaw.
This meal isn't what you'd call "fine dining," but for those of you who watch Guy Fieri's "Triple D," this place is a homerun! I can't wait to go back. Hugs and...
Read moreNothing is special enough in this place (ok, the wine list is admittedly interesting) to justify the attitude.
I would had never minded sharing my table with people I don't know and, matter of fact, this is a given where I live. But, in Covid times, I don't feel comfortable sitting in close proximity to strangers. And bringing them to our table without asking first showcases quite a high level of unprofessionalism. Suggesting that we should move inside when I explain that I feel unease sitting indoors (again, Covid- nothing to doo with the hygiene protocols, distance etc, it's my personal handling of my concerns) adds to this mistake. Having an attitude during this convo, totally brought it home.
Note that we were not consuming enough (according to my own opinion, no policy that I am aware of applied by the place) to keep occupying the table for such a long time and, therefore, we were about to ask for the bill, anyways, when this happened.
To answer the owners question: we were not informed about the table sharing, I guess it wasn't an issue at the time bc the place was empty anyways. I would had politely declined. I was only upset because we were not being asked. Also, Covid or no Covid, why would anyone make someone move tables instead of placing the new customers at...
Read moreunbearable situation that probably no one can control anymore. So noisy that you can't even talk to your friends, it's reasonable that there are delays in service, people sitting all around and no pedestrians can even cross the sidewalk, and in general maybe the most annoying version of the brand warehouse, as in another there was exactly the opposite image and the group's exit had meaning from every point of view. All 5 positives that exist become secondary if you are on the wrong day at the particular store. maybe you should set a limit, it is not possible to come in a good mood and leave with a headache as many businesses meet at the same point and the conditions make it probably (for this reason alone), a wrong choice. Protect the good effort you made, however you can. Today, with the current image, it is not an environment for everyone, perhaps rather for much...
