Tales of Ales — Restaurant in Athens

If you want a place that will make you feel like family, has a wonderful atmosphere and an incredible selection of craft brews this should be a must visit in Athens. One of the great pleasures while traveling is discovering a true gem. This small little craft beer bar is one of these rare finds, and will definitely be a must visit for me anytime I'm ever back in the country. This place had an incredible selection of beers in bottles covering local Greek brews as well as a fantastic section of craft from abroad. Their tap pours were great selections as well featuring a bunch of local greek brews and were served perfectly cold. I found a Greek sour on tap which was wonderfully funky and the staff were walking encyclopedias on Greek brewing and clearly knew personally some of the craft brewers. The bar itself does not make any food but they have a partnership with a local pizzeria that delivers pies to order. I did not taste one personally, but the table next to me got one and it looked great, smelled incredible and the table polished it off in like 5 minutes before getting another so it seemed to get positive feedback. I cannot recommend this place to anyone enough and strongly suggest you make time...

Tales of Ales is a small beer shop and pub in the center of Athens, near Central Athens Markets. The pub has more than a hundred positions of draft and bottled beer (you can look at the current assortment by visiting the pub page in Untappd), more than half of which are given to local Greek craft breweries but the selection of beer from European and American craft breweries is just as pleasantly surprising. Also, you can order strong alcohol. Although the bar is rather small, it has a warm, friendly atmosphere, and well-chosen music adds to the atmosphere of the place. Unfortunately in the pub no food, but they have a partnership with a local pizza, so you can order it in the venue. The staff speaks Greece and English languages.

YUM! This place is such a gem in Athens for so many reasons. They have curated a delicious and EXTENSIVE beer list from Greece and other craft brewing gems of the beer world. The vibe is grunge in the coolest and best way possible, and coming from Seattle, I know a thing or two about grunge + beer. They are kind and generous with their knowledge and recommendations and I felt excited to do some tasters. We tried three IPA and a dark beer and they were all great. So great that we came back again during our short stay in Athens. They've created something special and I hope to visit them again in the future and see how they are thriving. The location is very easy walking distance from lots of central spots.
