The Sweet — Restaurant in Athens

Quiet location out of the tourist fray, food was a mixed bag.

Starters were potato salad (good) and eggplant salad (tasty but too creamy for my liking, might be how it’s meant to be). Mains - my wife had the chicken gyros which were tasty but luke warm, she still enjoyed them. I had the moussaka - I should have heeded the reviews on this site which criticised this dish, but I optimistically hoped they might have read the reviews and improved their performance on one of Greece’s signature dishes. When it arrived it was fairly warm and asked the waiter if it could be heated up. Even after reheating it was still just warm, and it was very dry and bland. I can honestly say that I have had better ready meal moussakas from a supermarket back in the UK. Maybe the best classic taverna food in athens. We went to a few other highly recommended tavernas, and this one blew them out of the water.

The greek salad was perfectly seasoned, with ripe tomatoes, thinly cut onions, beautiful kalamata olives, and capers.

The dolma were still hot, served with a super refreshing tzatziki, and super flavorful.

The pork shank for 2 was an absolute show stopper though. Falling off the bone, well seasoned, and super juicy (i have to imagine brined beforehand). The potatoes had a perfect light curry flavor to compliment the pork, and the cheese salad and tzatziki on the side went perfect with all of it, along with the bread.

Cannot recommend more highly. Probably a top 10 meal of my life, and I cannot imagine athens taverna food...

The food quality was excellent, and the restaurant's location was charming and peaceful. However, my experience was marred by a particular server, recognizable by his mustache and piercings, who proved to be very unpleasant during the ordering process. Furthermore, when it came time to split the bill into thirds at the end of the meal, he was visibly annoyed. I find it surprising that a server with such behavior can work in a typically calm place alongside friendly and pleasant colleagues.

Moreover, this unfriendly server came to inform us twice that a dish was unavailable, which seemed strange for a restaurant. It would have been preferable to be informed of the dish's unavailability from the beginning. Additionally, at the beginning of our visit, we waited for some time before a server came to show us where to sit. However, another server had previously told us that we could choose our table, but the unfriendly server intervened rudely, indicating that our choice of table was inappropriate for our group of three. This situation slightly affected our overall dining experience."

"Η ποιότητα του φαγητού ήταν εξαιρετική, και η τοποθεσία του εστιατορίου ήταν γοητευτική και ήσυχη. Ωστόσο, η εμπειρία μου χαλάστηκε από ένα συγκεκριμένο σερβιτόρο, που ήταν αναγνωρίσιμος από το μουστάκι και τα τρυπήματά του, και απεδείχθη πολύ ανάξιος κατά την παραγγελία. Επιπλέον, όταν ήρθε η στιγμή να χωρίσουμε τον λογαριασμό σε τρία στο τέλος του γεύματος, ήταν εμφανώς ενοχλημένος. Θα ήταν προτιμότερο να ενημερωθούμε από την αρχή για τη μη διαθεσιμότητα του πιάτου. Επιπλέον, στην αρχή της επίσκεψής μας, περιμέναμε για κάποιο χρονικό διάστημα πριν έρθει ένας σερβιτόρος να μας δείξει πού θα καθίσουμε. Ωστόσο, ένας άλλος σερβιτόρος μας είχε πει εκ των προτέρων ότι μπορούσαμε να επιλέξουμε το τραπέζι μας, αλλά ο ανεξάρτητος σερβιτόρος παρενέβη με αγενή τρόπο, δείχνοντάς μας ότι η επιλογή μας ήταν ακατάλληλη για την ομάδα μας από τρία άτομα.
