Update from 2025: Since my first visit, I’ve been back two more times including Yesterday when I thought the quality of food was nothing comparable to what I experienced in 2023. Last time I noticed that the famous shrimp pasta wasn’t as good as before (Bisque sauce was less intense). But this time, I found the quality of dishes are not worthy for my original review and have to update. What bothered me so much was that our grilled fish wasn’t prepared nearly (gut juice was still in the belly and stank like old fish. Trust me, I know how to prepare fish) also every grilled dishes were too burned on the edge and killed teste of the ingredients. It was just such careless cooking. I’m very sad to lose my favorite restaurant in Athens as I’m not going back there after last night.
The original from 2023: I checked Google Map review and found the restaurant. I was suspicious how they can get all five star reviews from over 200 people. But now I clearly see the reasons.
Food - simply good. Especially the shrimp pasta, stuffed grilled squid, grilled mushroom, and zucchini chips. We ordered too much and the server nicely suggested we forget about one dish. We still ordered too many but almost finished everything as they were simply good. Wine was also good. All good qualities comrade with reasonable price.
The server was very friendly, welcoming, and caring.
Next evening we went to Michelin one star, restaurant as we occasionally enjoy high-dining as well. But we should’ve just come back here to get what we had to left behind. The dining experience here makes...

Thinalos Seafood Restaurant – Θίν’αλος is a 3-minute walk from The Stanley hotel.
Simple, clean decor. Bare wooden table tops and chairs. Good stem and water glasses with two droplets or tears or baby fish logo, that are made with half plastic, from a catering company Αφοί Κάτου – another first.
For the seafood, they’re not exactly like the Chinese, where you pick your seafood from the live tanks, then they cook and serve it to you. Here, they show you the kind of seafood available, such as shrimp, squid, a chunk of tuna, a couple of fish, with two dark lobsters in the middle. The drawers beneath the ice tank hold more fish, specifically the larger ones. Although many refrigerators have drawers, it’s the first time I’ve seen them as the morgue – in a good way, all in all.
Not that their food needs it, but while waiting, I tried the salt and pepper shakers: the set is of good quality and easy to use.
They provide sweet snacks and popsicles on the house: thank you.
Ok, saving the laugh for the last bit… you can watch the short video to laugh at me.

Read moreThinalos Seafood Restaurant was, without a doubt, the best dining experience I had in Athens. The food was absolutely phenomenal—every dish was prepared to perfection, with fresh ingredients and flavors that truly stood out.
What made the experience even more special was the exceptional service. The staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and accommodating. When we asked if it was possible to customize the risotto to exclude wine (as we don’t consume alcohol), they happily obliged without hesitation. The result was a risotto that was just as flavorful and perfectly cooked—proof of their culinary expertise and dedication to customer satisfaction.
The seafood was the highlight of the menu, with every dish bursting with freshness and expertly balanced flavors. From the tender octopus to the perfectly grilled fish and the rich seafood pasta, everything was simply unforgettable.
