We were looking for a nice, cheap and cosy place to stay during our Athens trip and found it! Although it might seem like the location is not the best, I must admit that I have not seen weird people at all (we returned to the hotel at around 10 pm every day). As in any unknown city, it is best to stay safe and be careful, but we have not had any unexpected or dangerous encounters with anyone. In addition, the metro takes you to the Acropoli in less than 15 minutes as the closest metro station to the hotel (Metaxourghio), connects the centre of Athens with the red line (Line 2), in 4 stops (Omonia, Panepistimio, Syntagma, Acropoli). ||The reception is open 24 hours and everybody is super nice. If you ask for recommendations they will happily indicate where to go. When you go outside, they keep the card in reception so that you do not have to take it with you outside (which I believe is great as you might lose it, it could be stolen, etc. so you do not need to be thinking about carrying the card with you all the time). ||The cleanliness is magnificent. They change the bedsheets and the towels every day, they clean the room and the bathroom, and they put more shower gel and shampoo if you have already finished it. ||You would not expect such a service from a cheap hotel, and the AC works perfectly!||Be careful if you come to Athens in the summer as there are mosquitoes (we found none in our room), and be prepared to walk under the sun for hours by bringing suncream as the sun is very strong and you can get sunburnt easily. ||Our stay at Hotel Cosmos was superb, we would...

When you leave your room for the day you hand in your hotel card which means you can't lose it.
The actual room is spacious, big balcony, decent TV on the wall. Towels are replenished everyday, beds are made everyday as well.
There is luggage storage and they can arrange a taxi to the airport for you which is actually slightly cheaper than the official airport taxi service.
Approximately 3 minute walk away from the metro. The metro is only 4 stops away from the acropolis. Perfect location for the metro.
Negatives - The WiFi is a bit patchy, in our room there were 3 of us and only 1 bed had a plug socket near it, the rest were on the opposite wall. Even then a couple of plug sockets didn't work.
The shower curtain is awful, you have a very small space to shower and the curtain will continuously stick to you. I ended up putting it around the toilet helped a bit but then the floor gets soaked.
The draws all have graffiti inside them which gives it a bit of character but definitely understandable why it's only rated 2 stars.
Overall the price is decent, location is very good, staff are fantastic, just expect some...

First of experienced one staff member to be rude in his mannerism, you would have thought he paid me to be here.
Rooms are outdated as well as dirty ants spiders probably bed bugs.
I'm not sure if you will get a good night sleep due to the random noise that occurs from the neighbours.
For what you pay the area is not in the best locations in terms of concerns of safety.
Myself is OK however a lady, elderly couple, or a family with young children. I'm not so sure if that to be the case.
An unease amount of homeless people and alot of people in large amount of people on drugs down most streets.
Feel as though ripped of the price just not worth it because on a walk out you then come back to a none nice hotel.
Yes you do see alot of nice hotels in the same area but the experience changes if you pay that €10-15 more on a better decent hotel at least you feel comfortable when sleeping.
To clarify this was a stop over however your better of not doing that here.
Not sure what else to mention other than...
