I'm giving this place 1 star and the other star is for the guy who tries to get you in.

Usually, we do a quick review of places before we eat, but typically, on the one occasion, we didn't we had the misfortune of being overcharged to eat bland food. As most people comment, the location is lovely, but it's going to be right next to a nicely lit lake. The staff were ok, the guy who try's to convince you to come in was friendly and chatty. We liked him. My starter was like a crap version of Bruschetta, which I didn't enjoy. The wife ordered Halloumi, which, let's be honest, is pretty hard to mess up. She said it was ok. She then had Souvlaki, which was one chicken skewer, some chips, and some token salad. Once again, she said it was 'ok' but wouldn't get it again. I had the mixed grill, which consisted of a small piece of plain chicken, zero taste, a patty of some description, which was fairly tasty, a horrible little piece of pork, a Greek sausage and a tiny lamb chop which i had hopes for. One thing the Greeks usually do well is Lamb, but nope..... tasteless. Some chips that looked a week old and a tiny bit of salad. For 19€. The bill should have come to €65 but for some reason, it was €71. I didn't argue as I just wanted to get out of there.

There are SO MANY better places to eat, look through all the other reviews. There's a reason this place...

Polite staff but judging from the previous reviews I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt ! Especially considering how big and comfortable this place looked like!

I was charged with 5.40 euroes for a freddo cappuccino and a small bottle of water - this place is indeed a tourist trap and it's a shame considering how polite the staff was !

It has a great area and I had a fun time regardless but if you are going to drink or eat and your budget is average I would urge you to avoid them unfortunately.

On top of that there are shady practises going on behind the scenes to avoid taxes (they didn't want to accept POS payment and I had to force them to pay) , that and that alone made me remove one star from my review. Truly unfortunate what is going on and as a fellow greek I'm ashamed for this place how money hungry some restaurants can be on tourists and locals alike. Thank you for your time...

Awful. The waiters are mediocre at best, don’t know how to set up a table, don’t know how to serve you. We were 9 people, they brought all the glasses, drinks and food at the end of the table and made us give the food and drinks from hand to hand to each other. The food is again mediocre at best. Even though we’ve asked for some meals medium rare, this was not the restaurant in which we’ve asked this. But the meat here was raw and bloody, it was way low than medium rare. The squid was not clean, it still has the rings inside it and for that it was chewy, I hand fried seafood saganaki but none of them were fried of course :) and one of the mussels was brought broken in the plate so you can imagine that all the broken pieces were inside the sauce. Would not recommend it even to my enemies. Avoid it...

On the lake in town, so mostly nice view…until a bunch of people starting hanging out in front of the restaurant. The seating was open and spacious - we sat at one of the swings which was fun. Service, as seems typical for Greece, was surly and standoffish. Four of the items we tried to order (like beef kebabs) were sold out, and the waiter reacted like we were idiots for ordering things that were on the menu (and not crossed off like we’ve seen elsewhere). The good though was fair to good. Chicken souvlaki was boring; just chicken skewers with two sad slices of tomato and cucumber (thankfully we had ordered pita and tzatziki separately), the chicken gyro was good, and the pasta was OK.

I really enjoyed my meal here! One of the managers was a bit standoff-ish, but the other one was amazing and so friendly! For the food, we ordered the fava bean spread, the hummus, the tzatziki, pita bread, halloumi, vegetarian pizza, and vegetarian moussaka. I would maybe skip out on the hummus next time as it was too lemony for my taste, and the pizza was average; however, we loved the rest of the food and the view of the lake was amazing. Would recommend this spot to anyone visiting Agios Nikolaos!
