To Mesogeiako — Restaurant in Municipality of Agios Nikolaos

What can I say about this truly authentic Greek restaurant? Its fabulous! We stayed at a hotel a few minutes walk from here. So glad I googled the restaurants around as this one got the best reviews by far.. believe me the owners Thomas and his nephew Pelos are so friendly and so pleased to see you every time you go. The house wine was the best we’ve had anywhere and so reasonable €7 half carafe and €12 for a litre! Fabulous! We visited here everyday whilst on holiday sometimes twice! Your served garlic bread and spicy cheese dip once you order your meals and they’re so good.. you also receive a small piece of chocolate cake which is just enough to finish your meal off.. We ate most things on the menu, kleftiko, chicken curry, chicken al a crème, chicken risotto, seafood pasta, lamb chops, souvlaki to name but a few! Finally Thomas brings some shot glasses with raki to raise a toast !! He has one himself too which is always a good sign.. yammas! Thanks again...

When we found out about this place , we were doubtful due to long drive from our hotel, but we decided to go and we are super happy that we did ! This is a family restaurant, so if you are not patient to get great quality food, try somewhere else. It may take a little longer than other restaurants, but it worth the wait! the lady who took our order, was really helpful and she went over the menu with us and gave us a great understanding of the food ingredients. We ordered a few appetizers and a mix plate for main course. All appetizers were super tasty and portions were huge (and we were visiting from the U.S. , so we are used to large portions!), the meets where tender and juicy and we liked everything we ate here. We were on a trip to Crete and while visiting the town of Aglios Nikolaos we were looking for a place for lunch, especially for our two daughters, we had luck to come into this restaurant. the most friendly and sincere welcome by Marsela and the maximum willingness to help us choose food for our gourmet tongues. I have never met such perfect service and food! Famous!
