Diaspointing.
Very windy today, but that was not the problem, Not enough waiters, but that was not the problem.
Some of the food ordered was OK but σαγανάκι με γαρίδες was rather pants. It was the first time it was served with prawns still able to be resurrected (it is easter after all) by a good vet, the prawn meet was grey anot white and liquid in the head was runny and the dish was cold when tasted.
Sending it back, incase it could be cooked, turned to be disappointing as it came back warm but still in need of cooking. It was inedible was the decision.
I was asked if it was OK I said no it was not and the waiter left disappointed. I too was far from happy.
Needless to say I was more disappointed when the dish stayed on the bill BUT they generously gave me 0.80 euro reduction. The saganaki was 13.40 euros. The waiter asked twice if i wanted to give a tip he was disappointed as unfortunately twice I declined.
50 euros later it told the manageres I would be writing a bad report, she was not fussed from her expression, she said they gave me a new dish, not quite as the original prawns were still there with my fork marks.
I also told the hotel Receptionist who recommended the restaurant that I don't like raw prawns... funny that. She was surprised.
The beetroot was good, the calamari adequate the salad from corfu was eatable but nothing like exceptional to by pass a raw set of 4 prawns.
Going to the loo with stomach problems not a surprise.
Avoid if you can whilst current cooks and lady manager is there.
I guess there was a reason nobody local was booking as all other restaurants...
Read moreFood was great, quality. Lovely spot and nicely appointed property with an interesting history. Only deducting a star for an uncomfortable vibe from the server. He did make an effort and did get the manager to help with the allergy conversation. So, not bad per se but it could have been a slightly tidier vibe.
The history:
Located in the area of Spilia in Corfu since the late 19th century, «The Black Cat» is probably the oldest cafe-restaurant in the island. It was first established by the brothers Chanou on the ground floor of a historic stone four-story mansion. According to the local legends, its name is attributed to a single black cat that stepped over the foundations of the building during its construction.
For the redesign of the restaurant's logo, we selected a fork as the symbol, but the logo design offers a dual meaning. The two forks are a clear symbolism of the food sector, while their placement, symmetrically mirroring one another, is a visual representation of a...
Read moreThe place itself was great, great music, great atmosphere, super clean and cozy. Unfortunately we "landed" there yesterday because of rain and we weren't sure if we were going to eat or not. The bald guy with glasses brought us cutlery without even asking, before we even ordered anything. When we told him all we wanted were some fresh juices (poseidon juice - priced at about 6€) and still water he got angry and started being rude to us saying we were supposed to tell him before he brought us the cutlery. My dear sir, you're supposed to ask first.. it wasn't a...
