Amazing experience last night at Bellot. Friends had eaten there just prior to our arrival in Heraklion and texted us not to miss this small, charming, family run restaurant. Soooo glad we acted on their advice! Costas and Christina were so welcoming, and took the time to describe every dish. Their passion and pride in what they do and how they prepare their dishes was palpable. I regret our stay in Heraklion was one night as there were so many dishes we wanted to sample. But what we did eat was utterly delicious, and generous and we have no doubt reflects the flavour and complexity of every item on the menu. We enjoyed every bite of a meat dish, squid and hummus. The friends who steered us to Bellot raved about the seafood pasta, the artichoke dish, as well as the fava bean purée. We also enjoyed watching the comings and goings at a small fruit and vegetable open-air shop visible from our table outside. A sense of a small but happily busy family neighborhood. When in Heraklion do not miss eating at Bellot. You will be...
Read moreHow fortunate we were to stumble across this little gem of a restaurant located on a characterful street in Heraklion - just off a main tourist boulevard. Costas and Christina are the owners, and couldn’t be more genial and attentive. And the food!!! Sublime. The hummus was silky, perfectly and delicately seasoned - and such a treat. The fried calamari was lightly battered - so light a touch as to be ethereal. And the small whole calamari melted in the mouth and resonated with flavour. Given the ample serving of both the hummus and calamari, we opted to share the Cyprus kebob (Sheftalies) which are lamb/pork meat patties seasoned with a herb mix. So fresh, tasty and tender. And perfect hand cut fried potatoes that reminded us both of what fried potatoes should taste like! All in all a perfect meal served by our delightful hosts. Do not overlook the opportunity to eat at Bellot. You will not be disappointed, and it will very likely be one of your most memorable culinary experiences...

We tried several dishes—moussaka, souvlaki, sea food pasta—and everything was full of flavor and beautifully presented. The portions were generous, and the ingredients tasted fresh and authentic. You can tell they cook with love and pride.
The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and Cristina&Ilie( the owners) made us feel right at home. If you're in Heraklion and want to enjoy amazing Greek food with a welcoming vibe, Bellot is a must-visit. Highly...
