A restaurant like a cosy home - with someone who can really cook all your favourite dishes! š
On entering the colourful restaurant, decorated with curiosities, art and pop culture antiques, we couldn't decide at first which part of the place we wanted to sit in. We were greeted with friendliest laughter and jokes by all the charming service staff, like old friends, passed on and guided through the restaurant. No stress, relaxed atmosphere - a perfect ice breakerā£ļø
The drinks menu offers not only the usual high quality wines, beers, cocktails and soft drinks, but also a range of fresh juices made from a wide variety of fruit and vegetables to create delicious mixes. (See photo of the menu). It really is like being at home and truly exceptional for a restaurant... but they also offer breakfast... š”
The food menu, like the interior, is a colourful mix of specialities from Tex-Mex cuisine with Greek, Asian, Italian and American dishes. This makes the restaurant ideal for groups who can't agree on a particular regional cuisine, and it is actually very popular with this young target group, as we saw during our visit. Everyone is guaranteed to find one of their favourite dishes on the menu here! A restaurant can count itself lucky to have found a kitchen team that can prepare these international dishes in such a tasty and original way!
We chose an "Obelix Burger", a "Full Burger" and the "Steak Fajitas". For drinks, we ordered from the "Fresh Drinks" one "Refresh Sorbe" (made from strawberries, lemon and mint) and a "Bugs Bunny" (made from carrots, oranges, banana, guava, kiwi and lemon) as well as a draught beer. Both really big juice smoothie drinks (approx. 0.4 litres) were really great, tasty and very refreshing with ice cubes.
The "steak fajitas" were tender and well grilled. They were served with delicious rice, guacamole, roasted peppers and onions, pico de galo and steamed tortillas. Just as we know it from Mexican cuisine - yummy!
The "full burger" came with one patty (all patties here are 80% beef, 20% pork š) and the 'full programme': tender, lean bacon that was almost reminiscent of pastrami, cheese, tomatoes, caramelised onions, salad mayonnaise and BBQ sauce. Served with really crunchy potato wedges and a pot of half'n'half mayo ketchup. A really tasty and great burger!
Then came the "Obelix Burger"! Anyone who knows Asterix's dear but greedy companion knows what to expect - a really BIG burger! Two delicious patties and in between a wicked combo of the already praised bacon, double cheese, caramelised onions, additional crunchy onion rings in batter, pickled gherkins, lettuce, tomatoes and a very tasty BBQ sauce. This is a true signature burger that is now one of my absolute favourites! A really great combination of flavours, crispiness and umami in a very tasty and fluffy brioche bun!
To finish, the three of us were presented with a wonderful plate of two huge scoops of vanilla ice cream, decorated with delicious chocolate sauces, Oreos and brownies! A "Death by Chocolatā£ļø" experience, as a complimentary greeting from the kitchen of our lovely hosts š«¶, which was the crowning glory of a truly wonderful evening that really felt like being at home with friends and tasted just as delicious! An unreserved tip for all visitors to Heraklion and lovers of ingeniously simple cuisine...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBohemian atmosphere but really not good for food. Or service. All a bit fake as the homeliness not reflected in the food quality at all.
The menu is too extensive, which should have given me the signal it'd not be great. I wasn't wrong. They do 'everything' but badly it seems.
I stopped by for a quick lunch of a falafel wrap...
What I got instantly turned me off an appetite. I hadn't the heart to tell them... but they must have been able to tell from my reaction š«
The falafel was just some deep fried frozen patties with basic salad in a dry wrap. No tahini or hummus or what falafel should have.
And served with that laziest, cheapest accompaniment tortilla chips š
The staff mostly seem to stand around despite my waiting for a drink.
Low effort and quality of food. Definitely not home made it healthy. I didn't eat it... Despite being very hungry...
Wouldn't recommend or go back.
Better vegetarian and actual healthy options nearby. Be better.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter long working hours, we were looking for a cool place to fight the heat and get a nicely cooked meal. Though our first impression was nice due to the welcome and helpful waitresses and the colorful decoration the mood changed after we started eating. Our beef patties were not cooked right and/or neither well made, their consistency seemed wrong and maybe they were frozen and not appropriately defrosted before being grilled. The fries were 100% pre-cooked/frozen and were strange too. The tomato garnish of our plate was obviously cut from long and left waiting. The chicken in our salad also was also cooked cut and left waiting. It was also greyish in color most probably because of the long waiting/bad preparation or reheat. I am almost sure that most if not all of the ingredients of our salad and dish were either frozen or pre-cooked and cooked or cut and left waiting. The prices were way out of proportion considering the quality.
Unfortunately, that's a place I wrote...
