We were genuinely enjoying ourselves at the bar. the bartenders were great and the vibe was exactly what we were hoping for. But just as we were about to leave and went to use the bathroom, things took a really upsetting turn. A man came up to us, who apparently the bathroom steward said was the âbossâ, started shouting aggressively, and told us we werenât allowed to use the bathroom. It was loud, humiliating, and completely out of nowhere.
We were stunned. There was no clear reason for the outburst. We hadnât bumped into anyone or caused a scene â the path to the restroom was clear, and we were simply trying to leave on a good note. His tone and behavior felt hostile and discriminatory. it was hard not to feel like it was racially motivated.
We ended up having to go back and confront the bartenders to ask why we were being treated that way. Thankfully, the bathroom steward came out and apologized, and even some of the other patrons seemed taken aback by what had happened â they were kind enough to insist we cut the line. Still, the damage was done. the whole experience was deeply uncomfortable and frankly disturbing.
P.S. Just to clarify, we werenât on anything, contrary to what the owner is suggesting. We had two rounds of shots at the bar, danced for a while, and lined up for the bathroom before heading home. It would have been more appropriate if the owner had spoken to us privately rather than embarrassing...
Read moreThe Bad: the young attractive Greek women that fill up the bar are âambience girlsâ or âfillersâ - covert gogo girls that never seem to stop dancing and partying despite the barâs vibe collapsing at some point - so if youâre a single man/men in a group looking for a cultural experience meeting Greek women and learning about their culture, then definitely consider somewhere more much genuine (maybe off the beaten track, as Baoâs is likely not the only bar employing ambience girls. (BTW: I met some of these ambience girls from Baoâs after they were finished âworkâ at Baoâs - at local restaurant, and they admitted their occupation).
The Good: Late in the evening, great DJ, fantastic service from the barstaff, cocktails mixed to perfection
The Ugly: price for a cocktail sits at a not-so-Greek price-level of âŹ24 per cocktail (other islands at prime locations charge considerably under âŹ20 - typically âŹ10 per cocktail for the same experience (DJ, vibes) - but without the ambience girls. So the ambience girls come at a price - and donât bother trying to talk to them đ . The bar/club has no view when itâs late, so thereâs no reason to pay a premium for the waterfront location either. Enjoy, but your wallet will not thank you, nor will you experience the...
We went on fryday nigth to have a drink, we found a table on the terrace and sat down. 1 of the us went inside to order drinks (âŹ38 for a gin and tonic and an orange wodka, both average brands, exorbitant prices like in much of Mykonos), while the other stayed outside at the table (without being served by anyone). After about 15 minutes at the table, a waitress approached us who, in an unpleasant way, explained that in order to have a drink on the terrace the order had to be made to her (something that is not explained anywhere), to which we apologized for not knowing and that the next drink we would order to her. For the next 15 minutes we tried to get her attention to ask for an ashtray and a wipe for the dirty table. Impossible... we were totaly ignored by her. After a while she approached the table and rudely said that she had already explained that in order to sit down on the terrace we had to order to her... since we still had our first drinks we asked her for some shots, plus the request for an ashtray and if she could clean the table. We had to ask another worker for the ashtray since she never brougth it to us, the shots took forever and she came to clean the table once we got up to leave. Summary, thanks to the waitress named Anastasia we will not return to this place nor do we recommend it. Obviously there was no need to be treated like kings just for ordering 2 drinks, but there are some basics atending clients and she definitly lacked all of them. Terrible service, while in any other place in Mykonos we were treated...
