Reserved for a group of 4. Got there on time and got seated straight away. Menu extensive, not cheap but that wasn't the issue. During food service as the dishes were coming out, the table was becoming crowded with plates as you would expect with this style of dining. Things went downhill when two waiters came to literally throw on the table the last two dishes of our order on the already full table. As we were trying to make space on the table, one of the two waiters told the other one "Just dump it there for the a**hole to sort out". He was referring to myself not realising that I am Greek and I understood what he said. When I tried to approach them in private away from their other paying customers to ask for an explanation and the reason as to why he used that colourful reference towards me, they didn't seem that bothered and they were trying to brush it under the carpet. I asked to speak with the manager several times. Right at the end of our already ruined evening by the staff's attitude I asked for the bill and to speak to the manager. I was told to go find her instead of her coming to the table. Had to insist until she turned up. She did listen and tried to make some lame and totally invalid excuses. She was as useful as a chocolate tea pot. Her response was "There is nothing I can do". Disgraceful, unprofessional, unethical and would not recommend this place to anyone. A paying customer of any nationality should never be treated in this...
Read moreI always love seafood and come here as a recommendation of the hotel staff. Order three seafood appetizers, it’s way too average, cannot say they are fresh. As main, we ordered a cutterfish risotto, and a seafood spaghetti with shrimps, clams, mussels, squid, octopus and scampis. The cutterfish risotto is average, but the seafood spaghetti is absolutely awful. At first the seafood spaghetti came without any scampi, and the seafood risotto is 5-6 euros cheaper without the scampis. So I told the waiter about it, and they said they can add two scampis back with the spaghetti, I was thinking in my mind like are you serious, if I dont voice out they wouldnt give me any. And the spaghetti itself, shrimps are overcooked, octopus just got two suction cup of portion, squid is like frozen leftover, scampis cannot tell if they really put in cause I usually got the whole scampi with head and shell but no there’s no actually whole scampi only few pieces of shrimp like meat, the worst part is pasta itself has no flavour but only trace of tomato sauce. For a 81 euros meal, took half an hour to get the machine (asked at least 3 times for bills), the experience is just too much for me. The lunch we have earlier, with seafood pasta is slightly cheaper, and full of flavours, much much better, try to avoid Kounelas and try fato a mano.
And an update we both have upset stomachs and diarrhoea the morning after and into...

If you’re craving authentic, fresh seafood in a charming little alley of Mykonos Town, Kounelas Fish Tavern is where you want to be. This place isn’t flashy or tourist-trendy—it’s traditional, welcoming, and all about the food. 🐙🍋
What we loved: • Fresh fish, your way: You actually choose your fish from the display, and they grill it to perfection—simple, clean flavors with just olive oil and lemon. Nothing fancy, just honest Greek seafood done right. 🐟🔥 • Setting: Tucked into a quiet courtyard off a narrow Mykonian street, it feels like a secret garden. Rustic tables, string lights, and that true taverna charm. So peaceful and cozy at night.
Service: Friendly and no-nonsense. They know what they’re doing and are happy to help you choose the freshest catch of the day.
Prices: Mid to slightly high (€20–35 for mains depending on the fish), but very fair for the quality and freshness you get—especially in Mykonos. 🧾
Perfect for a relaxed, romantic dinner or a slow evening with friends who appreciate real food and a calm atmosphere.
