Such a sad experience...both with the dishes ordered and the service received.

Walking around Mykonos Town and finding a restaurant that is bustling lured us to Niko's Taverna. Perusing the menu offered a lot of wonderful appetizing dishes that my friends and I are eager to taste. Plus, the price was affordable.

Disappointment #1 = Service Wait Staff = our party of 8 was seated for approximately 10-15 minutes before we were served bread 🍞. Then ignored again for another 15 minutes by the wait staff, who kept on walking past us, even when we signaled and called out that we are ready to order. It was a packed restaurant with 5 wait staff that we saw going around each table.

Disappointment #2 = Food was below average. Ordered the following: Lobster 🦞 Pasta (30€) the sauce was tangy (which I do not prefer, it's MY tastebuds after all) and watery. It was half a lobster 🦞 (which was fine for 30€). Saganaki - delish! This was thoroughly devoured! Greek Salad - averagely delish! Why? Coz I do not eat raw onions or olives. So all I ate was the tomato, cucumbers and feta cheese. (Maybe I should have just ordered the Tomato and Cucumber Salad, ech). Lobster 🦞 Salad - meh. It tasted like canned Lobster 🦞 with a half baby Lobster 🦞 shell (aesthetic? Weird). Caprese - looked good. Spaghetti 🍝 Bolognese - my friend said it was averagely good.

Normally I include parking 🚗 and toilet 🚻 when I review, but since we rode an ATV to town with plenty of free parking, that doesn't count. And we got so annoyed with the wait that we were 5 minutes from standing up and walking to a different restaurant.

The Wait Staff did not have a chance to lounge around to chit chat idly and ignore the diners. They were tirelessly going from table to table. Except for our table.

Toilet 🚻 - Waived! I did not feel the need to check. I do not want to be disappointed on this area.

Ergo.... I wouldn't dine here during evening/dinner time. This chaos might just be a fluke but considering that it's both the service and not tasty dishes served, I will not come back.

Keep in mind always that these are MY Food Experiences and MY Taste...

We went here after seeing it thriving for 3 days and wanting to know what the fuss was about. Reviews were mixed but we figured that it's busy enough to be good - we were wrong lol. 3* is generous. We started with a 15 minute wait for a table, though the fast-moving waiters assured us 'one minute please' at every turn. Table was fine. We ordered a meatball starter, a red mullet and an aged steak. After order the waiter brought our dead but fresh fish to us: 'looks nice?' we agreed and off he went. Meatballs we're fine - though note that plating/garnish isn't this restaurants forte. When the mains came - the Mullet was gorgeous. The steak was blue though ordered medium rare. When it came we asked for fries and mustard. We got fries. We cut the steak and though some was lovely (if rarer than requested), some was bordering raw. Nobody checked back - you really have to flag a waiter to get anything. The steak would have put many off and though we're okay with a rare steak - the deepest parts were really touch and go. When we were done we asked for the check and raised our disappointment about the steak and were responded to with 'what you want me to do, you want to slap me?' - of course not. We took the raw steak to-go : the island cats were more grateful than us! We got the bill and we're shocked that the mullet - listed as €19 for a 300g fish had l ept up to over €50. We got the waiters attention and asked for an explanation. 'its €19 per 300g - I told you it was 800g when I brought it'. He didn't, we said so. We argued the toss for a moment and we said it wasn't happening. To his credit - he fixed the bill and we settled up. Would not return, sad to say the reviews which describe it as a 'tourist trap' are accurate. Beware that if you accept the bread and olives on arrival - you...

We went for lunch on a Monday at the recommendation of our hotel and it seemed to get good ratings. We were seated immediately without a reservation.

The location is good, in the middle of Mykonos town with other cute shops and restaurants.

The service was pretty typical of Europe, not much attention given or friendliness provided but they did the basics.

We ordered a Greek salad, the Assorted Seafood (€25) and the Lobster with pasta (€30). The bread was delicious. Very soft and fresh, a good start to the meal. The Greek salad was fresh and yummy. Lots of fresh chunks of tomato, some cucumber, onion and bell pepper with a block of seasoned feta on top. Very classic. The Assorted Seafood was squid, sardines and prawns served with fries and a side of tartar sauce. Is ok but the menu said "fish" and we got sardines so technically ok but not what I expected (my fault for not asking). All of the seafood was fried (similar to fried calamari) and served in a fry basket lined with paper (also unexpected for the price) but unfortunately all of the fish was overcooked and rubbery. The lobster was served on a plate on the side of a bed of spaghetti with red sauce. The lobster was also unfortunately way overcooked. Some of the meat was so stuck it would not come out of the shell. The pasta tasted similar to store bought box spaghetti and the red sauce lacked seasoning and flavor.

So in the end, we loved the location but I can't recommend the food that we ordered. Based on other reviews, there seem to be other items on the menu that are delicious. Sadly we will likely try another spot for...

Unpopular opinion maybe but I was underwhelmed. I had it in my head I would go to Nice n Easy on the coast since it had better reviews. A local artist swore by Niko’s so we decided to try it. Located close to the water shuttle in Little Venice it was centrally located around most of the shopping areas. We were met by mostly grunts and scowls to sit down. As with most European restaurants there is no urgency and you must wave down a waiter. Which is fine, but there were no pleasantries or cultural exchanges. The seating area is all outside on a slanted road with very small tables. It is in a busy walking path among the shops so while busy it wasn’t completely distracting. The noise level was moderate but could easily hold a conversation. The bathrooms were inside next to the kitchen and going could see minimal indoor seating. The sourdough was really good along with the olive oil which I have to believe was fresh. We REALLY wanted grilled octopus so we ordered that and a pasta of grilled octopus, along with a fried cheese. The grilled octopus was great and seasoned well. The pasta was eggshell and less impressive. The red sauce was watery and bland mostly but a great deal of octopus chunks in every bite. At the End of the Day - Nikos was bland and underwhelming and unwelcoming to tourists. It’s fine I’ll only go there once and I got my seafood I wanted. Skip this place despite the locals and try Nice N Easy and tell me if your experience was better than mine!

A delightful Mykonian evening at Niko's Taverna (with a flavorful finish!) Niko's Taverna was the perfect setting for a relaxing and delicious evening in Mykonos. We arrived for dinner at 8:30 pm and were immediately charmed by the outdoor seating. The temperature was delightful, and the ambience was ideal for people-watching as the vibrant town came alive at night. Our server, Aries, was a true gem. Attentive and friendly, he made us feel welcome and ensured our dining experience was smooth and enjoyable. The meal itself was a delightful exploration of Greek flavors. We started with the cheese croquettes (Τυροκροκέτες), a warm and crispy appetizer that perfectly satisfied our initial hunger pangs. The mussels with tomato, garlic, and cheese were a fresh seafood and savory sauce. The star of the show, however, was the lobster fresh (Αστακός φρέσκος). Perfectly cooked and bursting with flavor, it was clear this lobster had come straight from the Aegean. Paired with a delicious glass of wine, it was a truly special dish. To cap off the wonderful experience, we finished the meal with a taste of Greece itself – masticha, a unique and flavorful aperitif. The perfect ending to a perfect evening. Overall, Niko's Taverna provided a wonderful evening in Mykonos. The combination of delicious food, attentive service, and a charming atmosphere makes it a restaurant I would highly recommend to anyone visiting the island.
