La Terrazza — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

Spoiler: I've only good things to say about La Terrazza. A visitor to Greece, I reserved a table on a busy night during which a school group celebrated, the band played, things were hopping. Upon my arrival, Kostas, the friendly owner, identified me as the traveler and warmly led me to a table. The tables were preset with flatware, a towelette, and a bottle of water, so that arriving customers would not be kept waiting. This opens my first visit to La Terrazza. Since that night, I made reservations for each night the band played. The food is excellent (the pork chops are my fave), traditional Greek, with a slight foody flair. The vibe is positive, guests are friendly, wanting to enjoy their evening, have a good time, maybe even get up and dance. And Kostas always has his eye on the scene -- whether adjusting the sound or A/C, ensuring the musicians each have a beverage, taking your order or payment, or just having a good time himself. Having an involved owner leads to the high quality experience you'll enjoy -- whether you stop in for lunch with a view of the sea -- or dance...

Strange experience.

The food was weird. First, I ordered calamari but the waiter told me that they have not fished calamari yet (it was evening). I then asked for the fish, but I was very disappointed to see what I was served: 3 small random pieces of fried fish, which I don't think came from the same fish. I expected a whole fish, to be honest, not random pieces.

Our daughter ordered pasta carbonara, which was mediocre, made with cream, nothing to do with real carbonara. Besides, the spaghetti were hard - not al dente, but HARD.

Finally, my husband ordered burgers, expecting... burgers (you know, the thing with the bun, the meat, the bun on top). Instead, he got 2 small pieces of meat next to some fries. Disappointed is an understatement.

Fantastic greek food, great friendly owner who guided us through the menu and the freshest items available. We had fish of the day which was delicious, the juiciest lamb chops which you must order, greek salad which was 10/10, a bowl of crinkle chips washed down with a half litre of house white wine. We definitely recommend going here for a great meal, don't be put off by it's unassuming image. The bill came to less than 50€ which was a great...
