Proavlio - Προαύλιο — Restaurant in Municipality of Rhodes

What a fantastic place! The building is historical built around the early 1900s and it is surrounded by a yard covered by the shade of large trees. It is well preserved and renovated fully- and it is apparent that the restaurant owners have a great taste for decoration.

The plates we tried were all magnificent. The roasted vegetables with cheese, the meatballs with fresh tomato sauce, the fava... they were all traditional greek cuisine but in a modern execution and very fine taste. The house wine was also good - we tried dry red but there were also beers available etc.

Lastly the service is great and does not by any means resemble the usual attitude one finds at touristic areas instead it was fast, warm and hospitable.

Cannot omit mentioning that the prices are well below what I would expect from such a place, taking into account the attention to detail, ingredients quality, size of portions and fine tastes.

Definitely a place worth visiting when you are looking for great...

After reading the rewiews we went tonight with high expectations. The restuarant is beutiful with a very good taste but the food was lacking flavor, besides the cheese rolls, which were good, the moussaka was not really Greek moussaka was basically tasteless béchamel with stuff that yould not even identify. It happens often that you have Greek moussaka because is a Greek dish that foreigners often order or want to try but is better not to have it if is not an speciality or if due to low season you meals are less fresh, before the season kicks off just reduce the options on the menu and focuse in 12-15 dishes you can manage. I do not want to sound pretentious but I have tried and cooked many moussakas, take it as contractive feedback... I like the concept of the restaurant quite a lot that is why I give...
