Worst meal I’ve ever had in Greece We arrived here on an evening having booked a table for 5 in advance. We were looking forward to this dining experience, having been before and enjoying the food and wonderful views across Lindos.
We immediately felt very rushed and the waiter was extremely abrupt and had a terrible face on him! He looked like he didn’t want to be there whilst he asked for our order. The starters came out very quickly and most of us enjoyed them. The halloumi was nice but the calamari was undercooked and lacked in flavour. The two on our table that ordered it left most of it which was a pitty.
Shortly after, our mains arrived. The lasagne was stone cold and simply inedible. We sent it back and it still came back cold - the temperature of the food had not changed at all! The lasagne had a mushy potato layer on it which was very odd. The seafood risotto was the saltiest thing I had ever tasted - it was absolutely disgusting. 2 of the party ordered this and left the whole meal, only eating the chewy prawns that were luckily cooked. And now for the worst meal of all… the spaghetti bolognaise. ‘How on EARTH could you get this wrong?’ we asked ourselves. It was the driest, blandest, most sad looking dish I have ever seen. A blob of bland bolognaise sauce on top of heaps of cold spaghetti. Atrocious. For a moment, I was foolish enough to think we got unlucky compared to diners, but as I made my way to the toilet, dishes were being sent back left, right and centre.
At the end of the meal, the waiter collected all the full plates and despite our show of disapproval, he shrugged his shoulders and did not seem bothered in the slightest. A member of our party went to then speak to the manager to get our main courses striked off the bill. The manager argued and said how disrespectful he was to his ‘mama’ who cooked the food. I have no problem in saying that his mama is an abysmal cook! Whilst the manager tried to fight this battle, he started to push my friend away with his arm. Yes, you heard that right. The owner was physically touching our friend.
In the end, main courses were taken off the bill after a lengthy discussion. We will NEVER return and I urge anyone to avoid this terrible money...
Read moreIf you like bland, this is the place for you! We were seated relatively quickly and after ordering saganaki and dips starter they were delivered to our table within perhaps a minute. Understandable enough with a plate of dips but clearly as others have commented about many of the other dishes things are pre-prepared including the saganaki, It was however tasty.
Mains arrived and that’s where it all went wrong. Our half lobster was musty smelling and completely unappetising. It went uneaten for fear of the kind of repercussions that the Greek sewage system isn’t suitably equipped to cope with. As for the mixed souvlaki, this may have been fresh from the grill - but yesterday. Overcooked, tough, dry meat all of which was completely and utterly tasteless. I don’t think the chefs have heard of seasoning.
Many of the dishes being delivered to tables around us looked equally as bad - I was about to order the fried meatball starter until I saw the shrivelled up excuse for meatballs that were delivered to the table beside me, quickly followed by a lamb shank which was so dry I can only assume they cooked it by leaving it on a nearby sun lounger all afternoon.
Service was fast and it seems they are keen on turning tables quickly, sacrificing food quality in the process. At €110 for a meal for two (one drink each plus a half carafe of wine) it goes down easily as the most disappointing and overpriced meal we’ve...
Read moreWe discovered Stefany’s while walking around Lindos. When you visit the town, you’ll see there are over 100 restaurant options, and I’m sure most of them are really good. However, we chose Stefany’s, and it turned out to be a great decision. The staff was friendly, and the food was excellent. From the moment we arrived until the end of our dinner, we were truly satisfied.
Stefany’s has two large terraces. At first, the upper terrace might seem a bit full and crowded, but it doesn’t feel that way at all. The ambiance and sunset are amazing, and thanks to the open terrace, the sounds and crowd never bother you. We even went there with my sister-in-law’s 3-year-old child in a stroller, and the staff kindly made space for us on the terrace.
Now, let’s talk about our dinner. We decided to order the mixed seafood plate and a few mezes (cold and hot appetizers). Everything was perfectly prepared. The pita (Greek bread) was fresh, even late at night. The fish was caught fresh that day, and you can taste the difference. The aroma of the grilled food was mouthwatering, and their selection of wines or Ouzo pairs perfectly with your meal, depending on your preference.
Don’t miss this lovely terrace restaurant and the perfect Lindos sunset. I recommend arriving around 19:00 during the summer months to enjoy the...
