Η Τσίφτισσα της Μπάρας - (Sofi's House) Restaurant — Restaurant in Municipality of Thessaloniki

My wife and I traveled to Thessaloniki from Canada because she was attending an academic conference for a week. On the third day, we discovered this delightful local restaurant and chose to have our meals there for the remainder of our stay. Initially, we ordered food online, which always arrived promptly and tasted delicious. The owner often generously added complimentary fruits or drinks to our orders. Yesterday, we decided to dine in the restaurant and loved the ambiance. The staff, including the lady owner, were all kind and nice. They invited us to try ouzo (too strong) and desserts for free. Notably, once they learned we were born in China, they graciously said "谢谢" to us.

When you're in Thessaloniki, you tend to go to seafood taverns. But after few days you start to crave for homey, comfort food. That's it! You need to go to Sofi's House Restaurant right away!! Thankfully it was located nex to our hotel. We were so hungry that I forgot to take photos - sorry! It was a very cold weather and I was craving for a tasty, hot soup. They had lentil, bean, chicken, vegetables and veal soups. I had a mix ıf veal and veggies soup. It was so delicious! The main dishes were apparently made and presented exactly like in my home country, Turkey. We had the "fasouliaka" (green beans) which was also delicious. First day we arrived at Thessaloniki our cab driver suggested we make this our first stop to eat since it’s home made traditional food. We did just that and we are so glad we did! The food was absolutely fresh and delicious ! And the service was incredible! Our waiter Costas (I hope I’m saying his name right) was sooo knowledgeable. He answered every question we had about every dish, at the end they even gave us ice cream. Before we left he gave us a fantastic itinerary on what to do and where to go, when we left we ended up doing exactly what he told us and had such a great time.
