This views here are great, however I would not recommend the restaurant for the following reasons:
From the get-go, the service is very pushy. We just wanted a quick meal as we were there before normal dinner time, but when we asked for menus he insisted on showing us the plate of fresh fish options and asked multiple times if we might like to share a steak before giving us menus to choose ourselves. The same routine was repeated at dessert. This wouldn’t have been much of a bother except the prices are already considerably higher than other places in Fira, and because of what happened in part 2.
At the end of the meal, we asked to pay by card. After making us wait a while they told us the card machine was having problems and asked us to pay cash. Knowing that it is a Greek law for businesses to take credit cards, we said we didn’t have cash and said we would wait for them to get the machine working. When the machine started working, he told us a total that seemed slightly too high (by our math the bill should have been €102 and they said €116). I asked for a receipt (another Greek law says that you aren’t required to pay if not given a receipt before payment) and was told I could get one after payment went through. I was tired and frustrated and wanted to leave so I relented. I was then asked twice to add a tip. When we paid, we were given a non-itemized receipt so we couldn’t even check their math.
Overall, not a very pleasant experience. There are much more enjoyable restaurants with similarly great views in Fira. I’d rather not support a business that seems to be built on slightly scamming tourists (given that other reviews mention these same...
Read moreThis is a bit tough because we heard people around us at the restaurant having a great time and enjoying their food so it's possible this rating would be higher if we'd ordered other things...
That said, while this wasn't the worst food we had in Santorini, it's the one my husband always brings up when talking to friends and family.
The place is nice but seating is a little tight. Service was mediocre at best as it was hard to get attention. Our entree, more than anything else, was so disappointing (despite being incredibly expensive). We had each planned to order different meat dishes so my husband suggested we do the meat sampler instead. Most of the meat we were given was overcooked and barely seasoned (the sausages had seasoning in them and the ribs had a sauce but that was it). It came with a bearnaise sauce on the side but that wasn't cutting it and the sides of potatoes and corn also weren't cooked or seasoned well. Super disappointing. I was also sitting against an ivy type wall which was really awkward as I couldn't lean back.
The sunset view was ok and the desserts were good and creative....
Read moreThe food was ok, but nothing outstanding or special. For what we paid, we truly expected more. We were celebrating a birthday and asked for a birthday cake, which they do not offer on the menu. I asked if it was possible to have a baklava then, as a birthday dessert and explained the waiter that it was a special occasion and celebration meal. The waiter forgot and we had to remind him at the end for the "birthday dessert", after we waited too much. Then he just delivered it the simplest way possible, with the table full of meal dirty dishes and not even with a candle, not even a "Happy birthday", nothing. Even though I explained it was important and wanted it to be meaningful for my mom. I am surprised that for such a popular place that people from many countries come and visit and invest their money, waiters and personal do not take care of these details, or have a bit of empathy on all of the effort and illusion that we as customers put on visiting these places, for receiving such mediocre service and attention. The staff should be paying much more attention to the detail and basic...
