Chroma restaurant is an absolute must for the summer season. It combines breathtaking view and offers an exquisite soul and flavor journey. Everything was taken care to the maximum. The service was amazing, professional, hospitable and with a warm genuine smile. They explained every detail in the plates and served simultaneously everything. All the plates have names of colours and honestly they trigger all of your senses. I tried different starters and one desert. Specifically i tried red pepper filled with rice and served with crunchy rice biscuit, yogurt and orange jam. I loved yellow, ravioli filled with fish and spinach. I tried aquamarine and it was the best greek octopus i have ever had. Gold was also amazing and personally i loved the refreshing feeling. I combined my food experience with a local wine called Selene. I loved it! Last but extremely tasty, the ravani desert, served with coconut and lemon crème. Wow. I still feel this flavor. A small but really important detail was the total ambience of the place. Minimal, decorated with olive trees and candles. You could hear the sound of the waves compined with Yahn Tiersen kind of music. I would like to give special thanks to the stuff, and specifically the restaurant manager, mr.Stavros and the hotel manager, ms.Lili for their kind and warm hospitality. They even came to ask me how was my experience with genuine interest. Thank you so much. I am looking forward to come back soon.
P.S.: I didn't mentioned the price range as the experience was unique. However i feel that the price range is competitive with other fine dining...
Read moreThis restaurant was very disappointing. I have been to many fine dining restaurants (including Michelin star) and I am willing to pay for high quality food. However, I paid 120 euros (excluding drinks) for 4 very average and not even tasty dishes. The dishes were very ordinary without any interesting flavours. In the starter (The Beetroot Ensemble) a bunch of ingredients seemed to have been thrown together but it tasted boring and I didn't get the idea behind it. For the second course I had the Soutzoukakia lamb, which had a very dominant tomato flavour that lacked debth. For the third course I had the fish of the day and I mainly remember that it had little flavour. I also missed flavour in the dessert (Ravani) as I couldn't taste any lemon. My partner felt exactly the same way about his food. The service was good but the waiters were inexperienced and in any case, if the food is not tasty I don't care about the service. The location of the restaurant is stunning, with a great view of the caldera (but you can have a similar view at other places). Apart from us, there was only one other table with guests, which felt a bit odd. All in all it was the worst night of our trip to Greece. We've eaten much tastier, better priced food at non-pretentious tavernas. We even had a fine dining meal with a view of the Akropolis that was much more affordable and actually did taste good. Stay away if you're...
Read moreThe view is indeed exceptional, and the restaurant is very secluded, which feels special. Sadly, what could be impeccable service didn’t quite ever deliver - this could be down to a lack of experience, or maybe not enough attention to detail. For a fine dining restaurant, aspiring to a Michelin star, it certainly fell short on a number of occasions. This would have been all forgivable if the same errors were not made in the food. The flavour combinations, which promised to be delicious on paper, were either dominated by a singular strong ingredient or lacked taste altogether - vinegar in the starter, overcooked mushroom in the first, underseasoned steak in the main and rose in the “instagram favourite” dessert. Finally, it should not take over 30 minutes to pay and leave. At this price point, you have...
