Worst dining experience in Greece. And fraudulent staff. A place with good looks but all they want is to make money from you. Trust me, you will feel it if you go.
My wife and I went to this place due to some good reviews from Internet. We ordered lamb shank, mussels, grilled octopus, seafood rissoto, and a "800gram" seabass to be grilled.
Mussles: totally not fresh, worst mussels we had in our entire trip in Greece. We didn't even finish.
Lamb shank and octopus: average and pricy.
Grilled seabass: we were told the sea bass is 800 gram. And I swear to any and all gods, the fish they served is only around 600g. Price is at 80euro per kg. That's easily a 16 euro robbery. Good job mama's. I think your mama might be a robber.
Seafood rissoto: too salty, and as mentioned in a lot of other comments, comes with little seafood and super not fresh mussels.
And the highlight of the night: When we finished ordering, I closed the menu and told the tall waiter(I can't rmb his name, but he is the one told us the sea bass is 800g) that's all. He took away the menu and asked us if we would like some veges or rice to come by the side of our main courses. As most of restaurants serve the main dishes with some sides, we told him yes we want some veges. We didn't mention anything about ordering more and the menu is already closed and passed back to him. And he didn't mention anything about extra charges or any of those veges are separate dishes. You know what I mean in that situation.
When we finished our dinner and got the bill, we got shocked when the "side vegetables" were charged at 10 and 19 euros each as "salad" and "grilled veges". In any other proper restaurants, those would be the sides coming with every main course. And the tall waiter never told us or showed us in the menu about the charges. He asked if we wanted sides to come with our mains when we closed the menu, passed it back to him and told him clearly that's all.
Best is, when we confronted him on this, he showed an innocent face and told us: that's why I passed you the menu to see in the first place, I'm just doing my job by asking if you want more after you finished ordering, everything is in the menu. If you are asking if we want vege sides, and your vege sides are not complementary with mains, Isnt it your responsibility as a waiter to inform clients the veges are chargeable separate dishes?? Especially when we have passed back the menu and finished ordering.
In the end they did remove the 29 euro from the final bill after our serious confrontation. But too little too late.
End of story, we spent 174 euro, had some below average food, and a awful night of dining experience. Worst dinner of our 15days trip in Greece.
So my advice guys, do all you can to avoid this place, it's not only about the food, it's the spirit of this place. They don't love their clients, they are not serving you with their heart, wishing you a good meal. All they want is to make the...
Read moreThis place is a tourist trap. We were in fact warned by our local host. But my kid liked the lights and we went. We found inflated prices and forceful upselling. We were served by a particularly slimey waiter who right from the beginning misled us on the menu. We had eaten just an hour back and wanted to sample some Greek cuisine which we told him. We explained to him that our 8 year old son was not fond of seafood and the only thing he wanted to eat was shrimp tempura. This unpleasant gentleman offered to “customise” a plate of starter with a sample of seafood for us. And pretended that it would have a little sample of things perfect for us with our kid. What resulted from this “custom plate” was just a collection of different dishes - a €90 main course platter, a salmon plate which was another item separate on the menu and a dips plate which was also on the menu as a separate item with each item billed separately. So basically this guy misled us to order three or four things pretending all this while that he is doing us a service by customising something for us. We were presented with a bill that ultimately was two starters and a main course platter as if we had ordered all of them. With the heftily priced beers (€8 for a corona) tha total was €170 (remember we told him we were looking to sample)!! And when we asked him what’s the customized sampler here he simply shrugged off and said this is what we ordered. That would have been ok too if the food was good. We left the platter half eaten, just could not finish the soulless food along with the sly service and upselling. Saw this particular gentleman doing the same with couple of other tourist groups too communicating with his colleagues in sign language if he found an easy target and making offensive remarks if he was pushed back by a tourist who rejected his suggestions. In my twelve days in Greece across 4 destinations this was the worst place to spend my money and time on. 100% TOURIST TRAP AND STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. if at all you go enjoy a drink and do not fall for cunning recommendations and offers. Watch the language and in fact ask what’s the total gonna be before you order. I also heard that this place has a different menu for locals versus tourists. All reasons to opt for better places like Nick right opposite or Fanari Noussa or Barolo on the caldera. At least you get your 200 euros worth of food and views there. I also spoke to another server and feel that this particular guy is unique for his tourist trap behaviour. I found other quite sincere I have been running businesses for over 20 years now and people like this don’t deserve a place on your crew. They just spoil your name and going by the local hosts advice seems like this restaurant has this reputation even in locals. Stay away folks! Or...
Read moreI was with Top Deck. They have said that they will also accomodate Vegans. My tour guide said today's final dinner would be great. I really looked forward to it. However...i am so disappointed!!! They served me bread and just vine leaves dish. Ok...canned vine leaves i can get too myself on street ok at super cheap price. While others ate fried pastries and falafel. The waiter said everything has eggs. Well?? I am a cook myself. If i also paid same price with others. At least make the effort to make something new without the egg. That is your job as a chef. It is very irresponsible snd very lazy way to serve customer. Don't mock vegans and tell me that I should not be a vegan. If i am the chef, i could have made a platter of fried wrapped pastry of potatoes, spinach or mushrooms or tomatoes??? Where is the creativity?? Maybe the chef are lousy at cooking?? The chef could have given me fried potatoes or mash potatoes mix with different other greek vegan food n serve it with variety since we have skipped out everything dairy or meat. Vegan meals are the basics of culinary art n cooking. If you can't come up with a platter filled with the same result of pleasure and appreciation for your vegan customers...your skills are not up to par. Then u really are poor in your cooking skills and performance. Don't tell me to stop being vegan. You should be showing off to the world that you can cook to impress vegans as well. We are not stupid and have no sense or taste for food like u think. We know what is a good dinner..or a good 5 course meal. So rude to customer. Do u know the sufferings of animals being exploited? Clearly you don't have a heart right?? At least find a dessert close by and buy us vegan dessert. There's vegan sorbet ice cream if u can't serve ice cream. There's many vegan cakes if you can't serve us a cake. Don't just serve fruits!! Lazy!!There's a vegan/ vegetarian falafel land around corner. U could have cheated n just buy some meal there n serve me that. You can't cook so don't tell top deck u can accomodate vegans. We aren't stupid with you cheap no effort piece of meal. I did not even get hummus until i complain further and some guy with some kindness n real hospitality sense said ok he brings fava beans. Spoiled my dinner vacation seriously. I left with very...
