Hello everyone,
Please do not take any offence from this, but I would like to explain something here to all tourists hitting Thira. If you came to Greece and you want to try real Greek food prepared from proper fresh ingrediences and made with love, this is the place for you. Mr.Nikos was not only amazing part of service, but also someone, who really cares about his customers. All of you, who is still accepting the Tzatziki killed by overpowering vinegar taste with no presence of garlic, which is exactly how they prepare it in Captain's tavern down the street, which is because of you rated higher than this lovely Olive Oil restaurant, please feel free to pay 50 euro, leave with stomachs full of cheep repleacements of real Greek food, enjoy your tasteless evening!
But for those ladies and gentleman, who are not affraid of paying for quality and beautiful enviroment and welcoming atmosphere while watching inspiring paintings on the walls and smiling Nikolas and his wife, who cooks the most delecious fresh fish you will find on the island, come to visit Olive Oil Restaurant, place where people cares about your enjoyment and food is devine, you know now where to go.
Nikos also treat us with another half liter of wine, on the house , and we are coming back again tonight! I will see all of you, who knows how the real tzatziki is suppose to taste like, there!
For everyone else, enjoy lettuce in your Choriatiki salata (Greek salad) and tastless tzatziki in tourist trap restaurants.
Thank you Niko, stay healthy and cool!

Read moreFirst off I should say we never actually ate here. We considered it during the seconds it took to approach and even while we were looking through the menu. Then a tall waiter appeared and gave us the hard sell. His sales pitch was well rehearsed, even down to the grabbing of the hand for a hand-shake, then the attempt to drag you inside once he had hold of it, almost bordering on the agressive. Once that didn't work it was an attempt to get your name so that you were all friends. It ended up with a pretty uncomfortable, almost pleading attempt to get us inside, along with a business card with a promise of free deserts, which was then changed for one with two free glasses of wine. The whole experience was a complete turn-off. There are other much nicer places to eat in Kamari so would suggest you try those, although most do have some element of outside touting to get customers in. It is true, the ones that don't need to drag people in are generally the better ones. This one was by far the worst so that was a no-no right from the off. It also made the return to the hotel awkward as we had to pass by this place and he still did not get the hint that we...
Read moreListen so I'm vegan when I'm home (USA) but when I travel where there's fresh seafood, I have fresh seafood.
While in Ios we were fortunate enough to choose this restaurant. Dad Nikos is inviting ppl in, daughter Graciella is waiting tables, and mom was in the kitchen.
We chose the black snapper. 😲 it was so flaky yet soft and somehow a tad bit sweet! The potatoes accompanying the fish were both crisp and soft. We also had seafood soup and every single ingredient in it was cooked to delicious perfection. We had shrimp which were also perfectly cooked. I also had the haloumi cheese with honey, obviously delicious as everything else. Sometimes seafood makes me nauseous not at ALL this time.
Niko was so welcoming, Graciella was so open and sweet and taught us a little of her culture while we taught her a little of ours. We also got to try ouzo, more culture for us!
My friend and I both literally cried at least 3 times (before drinks). 😩😅 I think it was a combo of the GREAT food, the welcoming family, and the view of the sea and mountains.
There are many reasons that I'll be returning to Greece and eating at Olive oil is absolutely...
