This restaurant was recommended by our hotel so we decided to give it a shot. We got there right around 6:30 pm and was seated immediately.
All good so far… until we asked our waiter what dish he recommends. His reply was “everything is good here. It all depends on what you are looking for.” Ok, that’s fair.
Then we asked “what are your most popular/specialty dishes?” His response was “they are all very popular.” Ok…
Then we asked him “what kind of beef cut is in the lemon beef?” His response “the soft cut” ok… not very helpful.
Anyway, we ordered our food and it was delivered quickly and was pretty good.
However, throughout the meal, that same waiter asked the table next to us how their meal was… and checked in with them again 15 mins later… but he did not once ask us how our meal was. In fact, the next time he spoke to us was when it was time to pay the bill.
This was probably the worst service we’ve had in our two week trip through Greece and will not come back again. We, in fact, told our hotel concierge and she was surprised by what happened. Hopefully it was just a one-off occurrence.
Update: in response to the owner who posted a reply: I gave your food 4/5 stars and atmosphere 5/5 stars. It was your service that I gave 3/5 stars.
Your comment about not wanting to disturb couples so they can enjoy the view is incorrect. I say that because the table next to us that the waiter asked (twice) how their fish was was an elderly couple. I was in a table with my family (table of 3) and he did not check in on us.
Also, just because the food is good and the atmosphere/scenery is beautiful, we value how we are treated and whether you agree or not, all three of us felt like the waiter was annoyed at our questions for recommendations.
I stand by my review and comments and like i said, I hope this is a...
Read moreIf you’re looking for an authentic, heartwarming dining experience in Santorini, look no further than Santorinia Tavern in Fira. This place is an absolute gem—from the moment we arrived, we were welcomed like old friends, and everything that followed was pure magic.
The food was phenomenal, with traditional Santorinian dishes that tasted just like something a Greek mom would lovingly prepare at home. Every bite was full of flavor and soul—fresh ingredients, perfectly seasoned, and clearly made with care. Highlights included local specialties that you don’t easily find elsewhere, all served in generous portions and beautifully presented.
The service was outstanding—friendly, attentive, and genuinely warm. The staff went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and happy, and you could tell they truly take pride in what they do.
As if the food and service weren’t enough, the evening was made even more special by the live Greek music playing in the background. It wasn’t overwhelming—it was the perfect touch, creating a festive yet relaxed atmosphere that made us want to stay for hours.
Dining at Santorinia Tavern felt less like being at a restaurant and more like being welcomed into someone’s home. An unforgettable experience that I would recommend to anyone visiting Santorini. We’ll...
Read moreWe were served by a waiter at Santorini Tavern who wore a fairy godmother Cosmo pin on his chest—and honestly, it suited him perfectly! He truly looked and acted the part—friendly, cheerful, and full of good vibes. HAHA! ( 5 star service from him)
He provided great service and recommended the orzo pasta, which turned out to be the highlight of our meal. It was honestly one of the best pastas I’ve ever had—simple yet packed with flavour, and the texture was unique and delightful. I had never tried orzo pasta before, and it was a wonderful surprise.
As for the rest of the food: the calamari wasn’t quite as fresh or crispy as we hoped—it tasted a bit like it came from frozen, and we’ve definitely had better elsewhere. The pita bread, on the other hand, was excellent—crispy, flavourful, and so addictive. The fish was decent and fresh, though nothing particularly outstanding. The moussaka was also tasty and satisfying.
All in all, the service really stood out and made our visit enjoyable—especially thanks to our fairy godmother waiter and that...
