What a great experience! We walked in with very high expectations due to having heard about this place from friends in Antigua and from the reviews. I would say it lived up to the hype. It’s definitely more for the foodie types as the menù consistently is changing. The flavors were great and it seemed the chef is trying to do something new with all the food. We enjoyed it so much. We started with the tetalas bicolor which had an amazing sauce that we couldn’t get enough of. For our entree we had the mariscada, which was fantastic and full of different types of seafood and my gf had the fish of the day. She loved the sauce it was in but found the fish itself to a bit too salty, however I enjoyed it, so it’s a personal taste. For dessert we had chocó blanco which was super sweet and rich but absolutely delicious. The bartender gave us a complimentary shot of delicious mezcal to wash it all down. A great way to finish the meal. Thank you so much. Our server was knowledgeable on the whole menu and answered all our questions and had great recommendations. Highly...
Read moreHad an ok experience here. Ambience was great. However, I think we came in with expectations that were too high. We started with the tuna tartare, and it was great! Very fresh and tangy. The panceta de cerdo (pork) was OK. Most of the pork was dry and didn’t have much flavor. The sauce helped a lot. We also ordered the beef tongue stew, and it was overall pretty good. The flavor of the soup was great, but the temperature of the broth was just lukewarm. I like my broth to be very hot so I was disappointed. The rice that came with it was improperly cooked, it was mushy outside hard/crunchy inside. It was also almost cold. Nanik was the restaurant I was most excited to try during my Antigua visit.. I don’t know if it was an off day, but I felt very let down by my...
Read moreDare I say… best dinner in Guatemala? I am completely blown away by the flavours, service, and presentation we received at Nanik.
Genuinely, each dish was a 10/10, and the value was phenomenal. A foodie friend of ours who has traveled the world and eaten in some of the finest global restaurants tipped us off that Nanik was the best eating in Guatemala today.
We had been meaning to go for months and that was the push we needed. As locals, we’ll be going back many times - if you’re a tourist reading this, don’t question it - go!! It will be so memorable. I feel privileged to have a restaurant like this in Antigua: where the kitchen and service team pour themselves into the art of food...
