Saúl Bistro Antigua — Restaurant in Sacatepéquez

I’m at the restaurant now and the surroundings are cool but it took them 25mins to take my order which was way too long, in fact, I had to walk up to them with my menu and order, they never did come to my table. All the servers are dressed funky with suspenders/aprons and the girls have little coats. They are all having a great time with each other and not tending to the guests. I don’t know how it’s possible to order a lasagna and have it on your table in 15 mins including the time it must have taken to put the order in and walk it out to the table, needless to say, the center is cold, so that answers that. For the price of the meal, there should be more attention to the customers as well as better valued food. If they specialize in bread, why isn’t there a piece of crusty bread along side of the lasagna? No one is busy and no one has asked me how my food is after 30 minutes, they are all leaning on the counter socializing. Sorry, I wanted to give a better review and maybe they are better other times. This place has a great atmosphere and the food is ok. It’s nowhere near good enough to justify the price. I would say the worst part is the service. We ordered drinks but when the bill came the price of the drinks we ordered was almost double. When we asked about this we were told that our drinks weren’t available so they just decided to substitute for the same drinks just a much more expensive version without telling us. Very aligned with the Saul look. Lots of spaces to sit both in an outside courtyard and covered inside in case it’s raining.

The food options have expanded since I’ve been in Guatemala 4 years ago and there are more options for gluten free and vegetarian eaters. Such a great thing! Everything is delicious and I could go back many times and get different things.

This location is a bit removed from the city center, but a nice quiet option. Plus it was connected to my hotel....
