Read moreThis place is absolutely amazing. We were in Antigua for a week, and came back here for three breakfasts because we just couldn't get enough. As vegetarians we had been apprehensive about visiting Central America, thinking we would struggle to find food we could eat. Union Cafe is the perfect place, whether you're veggie, vegan, or just enjoy amazing food that is also packed full of healthy stuff. The breakfasts are big portions that set you up for the day, but never leave you feeling bloated or regretting your decisions. We also enjoyed several of their juice/smoothies on offer - particularly good for hangover and jetlag recovery! The cafe itself is quiet and beautifully decorated- simple and comfortable. They have WiFi, and the option to sit indoors or out in their sheltered courtyard. All of the staff were lovely, and service was efficient (we never waited more than 10mins for breakfasts cooked from scratch). The presentation of the food is impeccable - I'm not usually one to take pictures of food, but I did on several occasions here because it was so beautifully presented. I wish we could eat breakfast here every day! The menu has something for everyone, and it is very reasonably priced, with several of the options including a free coffee/drink. They pack tons of fresh fruit and vegetables into every plate/cup, but in a way that I think even picky children would be happy to eat! It's an absolute must-visit restaurant if you're in Antigua, or a reason to travel if...
Read moreI had a rather disappointing experience at what seemed like a charming place. The service was extremely poor, with only one waitress (with a terrible attitude) who took 20 minutes to bring us the menu and another 20 minutes to take our order (despite the lack of a large crowd, as she was occupied with her phone). The food itself was quite underwhelming. The tortillas appeared to be recently thawed and were served cold and in pieces, while the tacos were excessively salty. Even the banana pancakes lacked the expected banana flavor, and the fruit itself was not properly cleaned. The only redeeming aspect was the drinks, cocoa and coffee smoothie, as well as a refreshing iced latte. Overall, I would not recommend this place, especially considering the steep prices for the subpar quality of...
