I stayed at this place many years ago and found it to be be cheap but clean and comfortable. I should have known that things had changed by there being no reviews for 3 years. I arrived to the owner and his friends having a get together in the front of the hotel which now presents as more of a bar. They proceeded to drink and have a great ol’ time throughout the night leading to no sleep until after 2 a.m. due to the sound carrying (and even with the use of ear plugs). Adding to that was the discovery that the first of 2 beds that I chose to sleep in was dirty with hairs and who knows what else throughout. The sheets were threadbare, so thin and worn out you could spit through them. I was so angry and uncomfortable there that I left the following morning without a word and booked another hotel for the next 2 nights prepared to forgo the additional 2 nights I had already paid. The owner did not respond to the complaint that I made with Hotels.com so he got the full amount of what I paid despite his behaviour and the cleanliness issue (which I took both pictures and videos of should he deny).||Finally, given the cost of this place note that there are many other options in Antigua that are less expensive, bigger (with you not having to turn your legs to sit on the toilet) and much cleaner. It’s a disgrace that owner can charge what he does when he has invested nothing into the hotel for years and years. Again, this was a good option 7 years ago when I stayed, but it is no longer, and after this terrible experience I would highly recommend travellers...
Read moreWe stay for a week with my cousin at a very afordable price. If you are looking for luxuries by all means go for the expensive hotels and pay triple what we did.But if you are looking for a home like experience with a very friendly and helpful staff and a very nice and willing to provide information owner go for Las Piletas. The hotel is a beautiful house at walking distance from Antigua Central Park and many eateries and restaurants. The rooms are small but clean and comfortable with a good bed. The bathrooms are tiny but who spends a lot of time in the bathroom anyway. The rooms are around a beautiful courtyard full of hanging plants and a fountain. There is a communal dinning room with microwave, toaster oven and coffee maker, also a refrigerator. Also another small patio with tables and chairs. There is wi-fi.They provide coffee every morning but they make coffee for us at night at request. They have a vending machine with alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks to sell.and also sell small souvenirs. They really get out of their way to make your stay a pleasent one and the owner is a charming and very...
Read moreThe place has a great location just a few blocks away from the city hall and park. The staff is friendly and always helpful. This is the second time we have stayed here, the first time we stayed 3 nights, this time we decided to stay 5 and will most definitely be returning. The rooms are relatively small, the bathroom is tiny. But it has all the amenities you need when you're backpacking and plan on spending most of your time doing outdoor activities. If you plan on resting at the hotel all day during your vacations I would suggest you look somewhere else. Wifi is included (all though not great if you want to stream Netflix or catch up on work) but there are coffee shops and cowork places nearby that can fulfill that. Overall. Great place to stay...
