The loaf of banana bread I bought in the store to take to share at my coworking space was very good. My breakfast on the other hand, was disappointing. Lukewarm Western eggs and black beans, doughy English muffin without enough butter. Service was good, ambiance is very nice.
Update: I did go back to give it a try for lunch. Had a naranjada (orange juice with soda) and a cheeseburger. The burger was very thin and odd. I wondered if it was cut with soy. Or possibly blended with various seasonings. It seemed like a frozen product, but I'm not sure. Overly large bun so a lot of bread. So, it was a forgettable burger. On the other hand, I loved the carrot salad that came on the side enough that I could even go back for it. On the way out I stopped in the bakery again and bought a loaf of their vanilla bread with nuts that another person recommended. I was not impressed with that, dry and crumbly, hardly any nuts. The banana bread was better. So, I am not changing my three-star rating at this time. Not terrible, but not great. A few stand out items so far: banana bread and...
Read moreWe recently visited this restaurant for breakfast with a 90-year-old family member to celebrate, but unfortunately, the experience was far from pleasant. Our server, Magda, was extremely rude when we asked about the menu options. We were simply inquiring about basic items like eggs and tortillas—staple foods in Guatemala—but her response was shocking. She sarcastically suggested we go to a cheaper place like Pollo Campero to find such items.
This level of disrespect was uncalled for, especially in a restaurant located in Antigua, a popular tourist destination where hospitality should be a priority. Eggs and tortillas are basic, beloved foods in Guatemalan culture, not something to be looked down upon.
Needless to say, we will never return, and I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a welcoming or respectful...
Read moreThis is a classic Antigua restaraunt and bakery that is popular with locals, visitors from the city and tourists alike. The bakery goods are outstanding and will satisfy your sweet tooth. The bananna bread is their signature treat. You can get a loaf to go from the small bakery shop adjacent to the restaraunt. I go for breakfast. Expect a short wait for a seat on weekends or holidays. The pancakes, hashbrowns and bacon are all good and reasonable priced. Service can sometimes be a little slow depending how busy they are. Not a place if you are in a rush. Instead sit back, enjoy a cafe and the classical colonial...
