We had a table booked for 4 pax. Upon arrival, two of us were present and requested some water for the table. Yet was only brought 2 glasses and not 4 as if their arrival will not be acknowledged.
To start with the waiters took everyone order apart of ours and we were kept waiting, even for drinks. Once we managed to ask someone to take our order, we were waiting for approximately one hour for our food. When I have asked one of the waiters, they said their system is down therefore there is a little problem. After they have checked our order, he came back and replied we've only been waiting for 20 minutes or so (which was definitely not the case). All the tables around us who have arrived received their orders before us and on top of that our table was neglected throughout our whole stay.
The plates that we received were full of water as if the team did not bother to to dry them after wash.
At the beginning one that food was starting to arrive, they brought the protein (duck) with no side dishes to consume it with, and by the time the rest was starting to arrive, the duck went cold and chewy. Not only that but we requested four spoons and they brought us 1 as there was none apparently, but they never brought us the four spoons we requested and they told us we need to wait with a upset tone.
We have heard at the table next to us, one of the waiters telling the customer that the system is down and asked them how hungry they are, because they will not be able to deliver a lot of food in time. Is not a professional way to treat customers.
Also they brought us food items we did not order, but as they were unable to provide a detailed bill with the items, we did not know if we were charged with those or not. Nor did they bother to ask if everything was ok.
I can say it was the worst service that I have experienced, yet the service charge is included... At the end of our meal, nobody came to ask if we would like to consume coffee or maybe a dessert and as the restaurant was empty, I believe that was no impossible even if it was a busy service. Nor were the plates removed until after we left, so we just sat with dirty plates at the table until we left.
The toilets were dirty, skid marks on the toilet bowls, no toilet paper and the hand towels were on the floor as the bin was over flowing.
Overall was a horrible experience and my friends did not enjoy the stay either.
Unfortunately, as a previously returning customer this has come to and end, nor will my friends be returning or...
Read moreWe purchased the 7 small plate shareable option so we had a good sampling of everything. The presentation and flavour was quite good. They make some clever and pretty cocktails, although they tend to be a smaller portion than most bars. The only red wine on the menu could be improved, it was average at best. Perhaps serve Gere? The dining room was packed, and they don’t let you linger after the meal—they politely ask you to leave so they can fill the table again. The atmosphere felt crowded—guests at the neighbouring table were less than 1.5 feet away, with little privacy and uncomfortable cheap wooden benches and stools that had only a thin pad that did not generally promote comfort. The server was helpful and generally prompt, but not substantially warm and friendly. They could definitely make improvements to atmosphere. If I judge the restaurant on only the food experience, I’d give it a solid 9. But, given the limited wine selection, uncomfortable and crowded seating, and a sense of urgency to eat and get out so they can sell the table again, I’d rate it at a 4. Overall, I’d put it at a 6.9 - 7.2...
Read moreThe food was overall decent. For me it tasted like they are adding their own modern twists to authentic Taiwanese dishes.
For example, in contrast to a conventional 茶叶蛋 (something egg - I forgot the name in the menu :P), which is supposed be a hard-boiled egg cooked for an extended amount of time in a brine, they had this soft-boiled egg which was preserved in cold sauce, which was definitely an elevation in texture. However, it came at the cost of a pretty noticeable reduction in flavor, in my opinion.
Chicken and duck dishes were both delicious, especially the shou pa chicken. Crispy skin, interesting ginger pesto, 10/10. For the duck, the texture is again unconventional yet tasty, we just wished that the portion would be bigger :))
The dessert was the disappointing bit of all. According to the menu it was supposed to be filled with a salty egg yolk. But after some very professional dissection the small golden bit was all we could...
