As someone who was born and raised in Hungary this is hands down the BEST food place in Budapest and it hardly gets any better. I love you Bors Gasztrobar since I was 14. I am 22 now and I will never stop coming back. You have never ever disappointed me, and to be frank you just impress me more from time to time. I got the mac n cheese pasta yesterday which was the BEST mac and cheese I’ve ever tried!!! Not stingy with the cheese at all with yummy bacon bits. Had the apple pie soup which brought back warm memories to a dear friend’s homemade apple pie. I love that the soups always have some surprise bits such as pie crumbles or meat if I were to order a savory soup. I am never scared to bring a friend here because nobody, not even my picky eater friends can say a bad word about you Bors. And this is the only food place my friends bring their other friends, that’s how good it is. In addition, I had the philly steak baguette which was good, but my all time fav is probably the pulled pork one. I couldn’t really taste the jalapeno. I wish you guys expanded because a terrace would be really nice. Oh and prices are cheap. It’s very worth it. It used to be insanely cheap but inflation got the best of all of us. I paid 7.43€ (2950 FT) for a half baguette + soup menu. My friend paid similarly for the mac n cheese pasta and water. Service is fast (even during rush hour) and they’re kind...
Read moreI know my message is just one of millions, but I still want to express my unpleasant experience in this store. One of employee who is not too young acted very impatient when I ordered food, and said that he couldn't understand my English. This was of course not a big problem. After all, neither of us were native speakers of English, but I didn't expect to get him sighing several times to hint at how poor my English was. I tried very hard to be polite, but because I was so shocked by his attitude, I forgot to tell him that I wanted to order half a baguette instead of a whole baguette, and he also didn't ask me when I was ordering. I didn’t realize something was wrong until I saw the receipt and thought it was very expensive. I got a partially refund (and more sighs) from the same staff after I apologized to him several times. I thought several times about getting full refund and leaving, but because this restaurant has good reviews, I really want to try it. After trying it, although the overall is a bit salty to me, but still tastes very good. Any way, due to this staff, this one or two years I won’t come back again to the restaurant because I have to improve my English to avoid this bad experience happening again (by the way, the other young staff who called my name and delivered the order to me was very great because his smile at least gave me a little comfort) Thanks...
Read moreI hate everything about this place. Except the food. It has been absolutely amazing every single time. The soups and hotdogs both.
But it's just not worth it. I've been here like 5 or 6 times, so it's obviously not bad enough to completely chase me away, but I don't think I'll visit again. At least not while sober.
The aggressively blaring music (even though I love that stuff!). The consequently extremely loud shouting at both the staff and the customers. The weird toxic masculinity vibes of the staff in general. (I feel like being an Andrew Tate fan is a requirement to be hired there.) The cramped space where you don't even have space to stand or exit the place to not be in the way. The waiting times in general. The way the menu is plastered all over so you'll need a few minutes to even understand it. The fact they don't accept SZÉP card, and people are guilt tripped into paying with cash, even. And the prices are not exorbitant, but it is still expensive. Their packaging is good when you're sitting down but pretty abysmal...
