A huge disappointment. Service was terrible and the bbq was sup par for a restaurant that’s supposed to be one of the top bbq restaurants in Budapest.
Our service was terrible from beginning to end. Waiter gave us attitude when he misinterpreted my partner’s order.
SERVICE Bf ordered a croque madame and asked in advance if it came with bechamel sauce on top. Our sandwich was bone dry with no egg on top or bechamel. Apparently when the waiter had asked if we wanted ham on our order, he interpreted that as an order for a croque monseiur, so he put in the order as a croque monseiur instead of what my partner ordered, a croque madame.
It’s okay, miscommunications happen all the time - we weren’t trying to blame the waiter but he immediately cut us off and spat “ok so you want egg on top?!” And walked off. Then he came back, rolled his eyes and slammed a plate with a broken fried egg on our table. Spent most of the conversation trying to blame us for the mishap and at the end never came back to tend to us. He was at the bar idly picking his nails so we ended up asking another waiter for the check. I get it, it’s frustrating dealing with these situations. I don’t expect pleasantries or smiles but I do expect baseline respect and professionalism.
FOOD The food was sub par. I ordered the pulled pork and eggs. The pulled pork was dry and unflavorful but the eggs were fine. Came with a little bit of greens with no sauce and some pieces of bread with no butter or jam.
The croque monseiur was dry but the flavor was alright. It just wasn’t what we ordered.
All in all an incredibly disappointing experience - ruined our...

The vibe strikes a perfect balance—cozy yet subtly trendy, with a touch of hidden-gem charm that makes you feel like you’ve stumbled upon something special. Think rustic wooden tables, soft lighting, and just the right amount of bustle to keep things lively without feeling overwhelming.
I settled in with a frothy, nutty latte that was as comforting as it was perfectly crafted. My order, the Salmon Avocado Eggs Benedict, arrived as a work of art. The poached eggs were the undisputed stars, cooked to perfection with soft, runny centers that spilled gloriously over the plate. Nestled beneath were layers of buttery, fresh salmon and creamy avocado, each bite a harmonious blend of richness and finesse. The accompanying rocket salad brought a zesty, peppery crunch, elevated by a dressing that was nothing short of magical—think a bright, citrusy vinaigrette with a hint of mustardy depth that tied the dish together beautifully.
What truly elevated the meal was the service. My server’s genuine smile and attentive, efficient manner made me feel like the only guest in the room, despite the steady hum of fellow brunchers. Every request was met with warmth and speed, adding a personal touch to an already stellar experience.
Fat Mam is a must-visit for brunch enthusiasts. Whether you’re craving a masterfully executed Eggs Benedict or simply a spot to savor a latte in a welcoming setting, this gem delivers on all fronts. It’s already on my list for a return visit—add...
Read moreA Squirrel's Satisfying Feast at Fat Mama My little squirrel pouch was feeling empty after a long morning of scurrying, and I was on the hunt for a proper breakfast to fuel the day. I found myself at Fat Mama, and the name alone promised a satisfying, hearty meal. I was ready to gather my nourishment, and I can happily report this was no disappointment.
We went for a proper feast, sharing a variety of dishes. The salmon bagel was fantastic, with fresh ingredients and a wonderfully chewy bagel. The cheese omelette was fluffy and perfectly cooked, a simple but delicious choice. The star of the show, however, was the English breakfast for two. It was a monumental spread, filled with all the fixings, and easily generous enough for the three of us to share and still feel full. Every bite was top-notch, and it was the perfect way to start the day.
And what's a good breakfast without good coffee? The coffee was excellent—rich and strong, just the jolt a tired squirrel needs. The service was also just as good as the food. The staff was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed without any of the strange changes in demeanor I've seen elsewhere. In the end, this little squirrel left Fat Mama with a very full pouch and a very happy heart. The food was excellent, the portions were generous, and the service was just right. This is definitely a place I'd recommend to any other squirrels looking for a great breakfast...
