I don’t leave typically leave bad reviews~I understand how difficult the hospitality industry is. Also, am on vacay, so am surprised I’m annoyed enough to detail my experience.
Just wanted to stop off and get an iced coffee (you know black coffee with ice cubes).. the guy who greeted me clearly clocked me as an American tourist. He spoke more than serviceable English of the type one does when dealing with an English speaking tourist. Also, should point out this is a heavily touristed area.
I requested an iced coffee…but received a dairy laden concoction. I was expecting just a plain iced coffee.
Admittedly, I didn’t pull out my translator app to ensure no translation issues at point of order. The host who seated and served me didn’t exactly ask for clarification either.
At any rate, ok mistake. He had a bit of a huffy reaction and ultimately brought me an iced coffee and said an iced coffee in Hungary was what he originally brought me (dairy, whip cream, etc).
No biggie i thought, but when receipt came it clearly said vanilla and some other markers that indicated probably not getting charged for a simple iced black drip coffee. I asked him about it and his attitude was hostile and just not friendly.
I didn’t want to fight about the receipt so I just payed the equivalent of 7.35 USD for a plain black drip coffee with ice cubes.
Too bad, nice aesthetics, on the water. But I felt this establishment took advantage of a tourist moment to not rectify charge.
Could be wrong, but for tourist places I’ve experience in Hungary, the 7.35USD and receipt itself suggested i was up-charged for a higher...
Read moreI joined a group of colleagues who were there yesterday. The group had a reservation inside for about 20 people but more joined who wanted to be seated outside and they did get seated reluctantly at the very edge of the terrace under the condition food would be ordered, which was done (both inside and outside). When I joined the group of 10 outside and ordered a beer, the utterly arrogant waiter said I was not allowed cos a round and bill was paid for inside. Simply creating 2 bills for a a now bigger party split in 2 location did not come up in his mind seemingly. Not did the fact that they had over 30 people now who would have spent money for food and drinks all night (which we actually did in the friendly place next to it)! And then, even before serving the very mediocre mandatory food, the waiter smugly put reserved cards on each table. It’s called SERVICE industry, and the sheer stubborn stupidity this situation was handled was simply shameful. The group outside got up and left, asked for the bill for the food and they said it was paid inside already (are you sure? Yes - and of course it wasn’t and they then charged it to the inside group, who also left in solidarity to the unacceptable rude behavior we suffered outside), so aside from arrogance we also got a servicing of incompetence to boot. Never go this tourist trap, they put the business and the...
