Freyja what happened to you? It seems that, as often happens with fame and popularity, the focus on quality has been lost. You are no longer what you used to be, and that’s truly a shame.
I still remember when you opened your first bakery on Szövetség utca. I was there, captivated by your incredible pistachio croissants—they were exceptional and utterly addictive. But now? The quality is no longer the same.
Today, your croissants are smaller, drier, and filled with only a thin layer of cream that lacks the richness I once loved. Despite this, you charge almost 2000 for each piece. It’s disheartening to see such a decline.
Even the bakery itself feels neglected. The place is dusty, with spider webs hanging above the pastries. The floors, tables, and toilet are in an unacceptable state. I no longer feel comfortable visiting, and I am deeply disappointed.
As for the drinks—what can I say? My friend’s hot chocolate was cold, watery, and drowned in whipped cream.
I understand how hard it must have been to reach this level of success, and I know your popularity might be enough for seasonal tourists who visit just once. But for a local like me, who has supported you from the start, I can’t accept this decline.
I want the quality back. I want croissants filled with thick, luscious pistachio cream, so generous that it drips onto the plate. I want at least a reasonable level of cleanliness. And I want products that are priced fairly for their quality.
I know you’ve opened your third shop in Vienna, and perhaps the quality is better maintained there. But it feels as though you’ve forgotten about the first shop that started it all. Please, make the effort to restore what made your bakery so special in the beginning.
Sincerely, An old...
Read moreI went here twice. First on Friday 8/16 and the man at the counter was very nice. Picked up strawberry cruffin, raspberry croissant, pistachio and pain au chocolat.
Second time was today, Sunday 8/18 and the girl at the counter was trying to charge me 100ft for a pastry bag to hold the lemon curd morning bun. I brought my own paper bag so she put it on a napkin for me. I’m sure they only do this for tourists because on Friday, I saw a man asking for multiple bags to take his leftovers and he wasn’t charged at all.
So if you’re a tourist, pay attention to the charges being displayed.
I don’t mind paying 150ft for a bag with no handle, as I did on Friday because I purchased 3 croissants but when I went back to buy a 4th, the man was nice enough to not charge me for the bag with a handle. Stop trying to rip off people off/tourists. 😡
I agree with the other reviewers, we’re already paying a premium for mediocre croissants. The croissants look better than they taste. I would recommend the lemon curd and cardamom morning bun though. That was the best out of everything that was purchased.
On both occasions I noticed the females being a bit rude and nasty. No smiles whatsoever. I can also tell that the cashier today made a comment about me not wanting to pay for the bag.
Other than that, just go a few blocks over to another bakery with staff that are a lot nicer and won’t try to charge you for the small...
Read moreWalking up, you are greeted by windows filled with beautifully done flakey pastries, both sweet and savory. I wanted them all . Sadly, the raspberry were sold out by early afternoon, but with plenty of other options, we stayed the course. Unfortunately, this was only the first in a series of disappointments. Stepping through the door, you wouldn't be faulted for thinking you had taken a wrong turn and landed in the pastry oven itself. The shop drastically over compensated for the cold weather and had the heat cranked to 10. Soaked in sweat by the time I finished ordering 2 pastries and a coffee, I returned to my travel partner to find them on a window bench, the only open spot in the restaurant. The pain au choco and pomegranate sticky bun were both good, my partner a bigger fan than I of either. Perhaps the experience may have been elevated by a coffee to balance out the sweetness, but mine was nowhere to be found in the 15 mins it took to finish our treats. When I stopped the very busy waitress to inquire, she corrected the forgotten beverage, delivering an Americano bitter enough to mellow the sugariest...
