We visited RUMI following an article I read and it was well worth the visit. We had an early dinner so it wasn’t crowded, and we were served quickly. The menu is not long which is a good sign and it has several authentic iranian dishes. I’m a big fan of the region’s cuisine, my friend was unfamiliar with it though but he loved every bite. We had a Bakhtiari and a Joojeh Torsh and lemonade as drinks. The lemonade was refreshing, and not sweet, the dishes were really bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. The pomegranate-walnut sauce on the Joojeh Torsh is a total hit, the Bakthiari with the marinarchicken-lamb meat variety was perfect. The rice; the saffron gives it a unique flavour and I have to add that I never had such perfectly cooked rice which does not stick like at all. The garnish of salad was also tasty, the grilled tomato was also really good. Prices; this is restaurant food which somewhat elevates the pricepoint, however compared to even a pub in the area which serves a beer at half the price of a main course at RUMI, they are inexpensive. The atmosphere is laid back, authentic music is played in the background so it makes it possible for people to have a chat. The service is kind and attentive and as it is a family owned restaurant, they sensibly put their heart and soul into...
Read moreOur experiences were so disappointing it was actually a joke. The service waitress was extremely rude and she was acting unbothered and so annoyed the whole time. We ordered 3 lamb mandy and 3 different appetisers at dinner time. She came back with the mandy first without appetisers and that was suspicious enough. First the portions were extremely small, even the tiny plate they serve with was so empty, barely any rice, on top of that the meat itself was cold from inside! We made our remarks on that and she took the plates without any kind of apologising or at least understanding, she came back 6-7 minutes later, probably put them in the microwave. We finished our meals quickly and then went to pay. We asked to pay the bill separately, then she replied back with ( ugh! You should’ve have told me, I just printed it out and you guys can divide the price by 3). It is not my responsibility to pay for things I didn’t order! That why we specifically said we want to pay SEPARATELY! I give this experience 1/10! Would not recommend! There are much better Persian restraunts around Budapest with much much...
Read moreWe had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant.
First of all, when we asked the waitress about portion sizes, she was extremely rude and dismissive. Her response was sarcastic, saying she didn’t know “how big the portions are” and that it’s “for one person” in a very unhelpful tone.
We ordered lentil soup and lamb mandi. The mandi came as a very small portion, completely unlike authentic Middle Eastern mandi. To make matters worse, it was served cold, tasting as though it had been microwaved rather than freshly prepared. When we pointed this out, the dishes were simply taken away, reheated, and returned to us — without a single apology.
Finally, when it came time to pay, we asked to split the bill among three people. The waitress misunderstood and became visibly frustrated, telling us “you should have told me earlier, now I cannot do it.” Once again, no courtesy was shown.
Overall, the food was disappointing, the service unfriendly, and the experience left us with nothing but...
