As a fan of Asian cuisine, I was intrigued by the many positive reviews for Baby Bamboo Restaurant and decided to give it a try. Sadly, the experience left much to be desired.
The setting is plain, almost sterile—clean but without any warmth or decor to speak of. The menu is extensive, covering Chinese, Thai, and Japanese dishes, which sounds promising at first. However, don’t be fooled by the variety. The food fell flat across the board, lacking the authenticity or flavor you’d expect from even a modest Asian restaurant. While the dishes might look nice in the photos, they didn’t deliver on taste. The sushi, for example, was not only cold but excessively salty. The chicken and rice were passable at best—honestly, it felt like something you’d get at a cafeteria.
The real disappointment, though, came with the dumplings, one of my favorite dishes. I had to send them back because the filling spilled out as soon as I lifted the dumpling, and the taste... let’s just say it wasn’t bad for personal preference, but because the meat seemed off. It was one of those rare moments when I had to spit it out and leave it on the plate.
When the bill came, we politely mentioned that two of the dishes were inedible and asked if they could at least remove one from the charge. Instead, the chef offered to make us another portion to take home. We smiled, thanked them, paid, and left, but the whole experience was disappointing.
As someone who loves Asian food and often finds restaurant reviews reliable, this visit was a complete letdown.
The prices aren’t outrageous, but honestly, why pay less for food that’s this poor? I can’t recommend this place —there are much better...
Read moreThe food was fine. But we went with a large group where we called ahead to make sure they could accommodate, and still half of the restaurant was empty, and it took over two hours and people still did not have their starters in some cases.
Food was brought out at all different times, one by one, where in people got their sushi before edamame, complaints were made to staff, and the manager and the answer was “their chef was confused“
If you have anything to do with your day, you shouldn’t come here because you might miss it.
If you don’t mind sitting and waiting for hours and you go in not hungry it might be just fine.
It ended up negatively affecting the days of many in our party with other things to do and many teens looking forward to and all you can eat sushi experience.
It was more like how much sushi they could actually make Which wasn’t even a first round..
They are not equipped to offer what their menu and...
Read moreWe just got to the town after a flight and a somewhat stressful commute to our hotel. We stumbled on it on maps by coincidence. I can say its been the luckiest case of coincidence we've ever experienced. It was three of us and we has a sushi set, desert and drinks. Came out to about 17.000huf total. It was the most amazing food we've ever had. The desserts especially (we highly recommend the mochi, fried banana and mango rice). We especially want to mention the service, which was very friendly and quick - all the food that got to the table was hot and fresh.
Were very impressed all around, and it was the best welcome to Budapest we could've asked for. :)
(P.S. We didnt get more photos because we were too amazed...
