Jin Man Tang kínai étterem — Restaurant in Budapest

I've eaten at this Chinese restaurant three or four times. Previously, when I went during earlier hours, I found the food to be average quality fast-food Chinese. However, when I went in the late afternoon/evening, the food was sometimes bad - extremely oily. The staff seemed friendly enough.

I just visited again recently. I ordered food but noticed a bad smell near the counter, which is close to both the kitchen and bathroom. I decided to cancel my order and politely said, "I'm sorry, but I don't want it anymore." The cashier claimed this wasn't possible and insisted I pay because they would have to throw the food away. I believe she was lying - I doubt they're so wasteful that they'd throw away perfectly good food. She tried to convince me that I was obligated to pay, but I simply walked away. I listened to her nonsense at the door for a bit, where she told me I was banned from the establishment. All this because their place smells bad.

I don't understand why they're so inflexible and why they can't handle such a situation normally. A restaurant with hygiene issues shouldn't be forcing customers to pay for food they don't want to eat because of...

If you're someone who enjoys their food quickly passing through the digestive system, then this place might just be for you. However, be prepared for the food to be rather salty, which seems to be the only notable aspect of the flavor.

I had the rather shocking experience of witnessing the chef, in full view, take what was supposed to be a freshly prepared dish and simply microwave it at the counter. Yes, you read that right – this restaurant's "Chinese culinary art" apparently involves reheating pre-made food in a microwave. While I understand that they rely heavily on delivery services, where speed is crucial, it's completely unacceptable to serve microwaved food to customers who actually take the time to visit the restaurant.

The overall cleanliness of the place leaves much to be desired. Whether it's the dining area, the kitchen, or even the restroom, everything seemed to lack proper hygiene standards.

In conclusion, if you're looking to rapidly "process" your meal and perhaps find yourself contributing to the flow of the Danube shortly afterward, then by all means, visit this restaurant. Otherwise, steer clear and save yourself...

Love this place. First time eating here definitely coming back! Very lovely personnel, very delicious food and amazing prices. Would definitely recommend if you enjoy Asian cuisine! Keep up the good work 🫶

Update: Have been eating here for a whole month. Never disappointed! Loved the vibe. My personal favourite is the "Fried Milk"!

Update (after one and half year): Came back to eat especially for this place. Nothing has changed, still my favourite in the city, staff has the kindest souls and very friendly with everybody.
