The food is good but we have a complaint. At first when we were ordering during our meals and when we were eating, we were taken care of by a staff which is very nice and good at communicating with us in English. But when we are making payment, a different second staff came to us when we requested the bill, we asked if we can pay bill by cash in Euro, the second staff said ok and get us the bill. After we see the bill, it turned out that we didn’t have enough cash so we asked if we can pay by card instead but the second staff said that we can’t even though we saw other table paid by card. The first time we asked, the second staff just said no and couldn’t explain why we can’t pay with card instead. The second time that we insisted, the second staff explained to the effect of we already chosen to pay by cash and we can’t change that. (Both times the second staff didn’t explain fully in English so we also weren’t sure about the exact explanation, the second time we asked, this second staff also shrugged and walk away while we’re still talking). This does not make any sense at all for us that we can’t change the payment method. In the end we decided to send one of our friends to get cash in HUF from ATM. But before that eventually the first staff came in and said we can pay by card. So in the end we paid by card in FT.
We suspected that it might take some process to change the payment method, but your staff could not explain clearly to us and did not think to have another staff who obviously can help with that to come explain to us. Your staff also shrugged and walk away from us when we were still asking for explanation, which we find to be quite rude.
During the checkout, in our room, there were only our table and another table with two guests. We don’t know if your way of work is to empty the entire room first before sending a new batch of guests in. But if so, we would have hurriedly moved if one of your staff came to...
Read moreFood is ok, but this experience tells me never come here again…..All I mentioned below are trifles but let me understand the culture here more. In this rainy spring evening, when I enter this “warm and cozy” restaurant,I think it’s reasonable to sit just outside the kitchen with a small table since I’m alone and won’t bring them much profit, and I’m a foreign tourist won’t eat here often. But, I don’t think it’s proper to offer me only one chair and ask me to put my little ugly poor bag with my wallet and passport in it on the cloths stand at the other side of the room. What make me astonished is when I pulled a chair “by myself” after being refused to use the second chair, they quickly took it away for the reason all the other table are reserved until 2 hours later I found that table is still empty and the whole room is almost empty. But my bag is still on the ground and not anyone offered me a chair which never happened during my whole life eat outside….. I tried to talk to them but they avoided apology but gave me many excuses like they are busy….with polite and gentle voice but I just feel arrogant and rude treated. I thought I was in a low-cost-carrier which is “full of people”and I have to put the personal luggage besides my foot but this “flight” asked for a mandatory 10% service fees…. I planed to talk to the manager but I gave up cas I know they are not bad guys although I’m not satisfied as a customer. But I have to share my experience here, not to complain them but just offer some useful tips: If other tables are reserved but the customers haven’t come, pls be flexible, maybe u can share the chair or table with new customers but make a due time for the using. If the other table are not reserved but u just don’t want any other nonprofit customer to use, pls be a little bit sincere. How about just tell the truth in your own way? Since if u don’t say I really don’t know u don’t want me to eat here, and I can eat anywhere else,what’s...
Read moreA couple of friends recommended us this restaurant from their visit a year ago. We went on a Saturday afternoon at around 7 and got seated without a reservation (we were 2 people). They brought us the menu right away, even though we had already looked at it (they have it posted outside the restaurant with prices). We order the goulash which is a traditional soup with meat and vegetables. It was excellent, especially after I added some salt! And we also arder a chicken with drizzled honey sauce or something that was sided with potatoes (frozen but good) and a very generous salad. The only thing that was a little weird is the way the waiter brought us our plates and forks (he just left them on the side of the table stacked) and they also didn’t offer us water but we had a bottle with us. The staff was exceptionally kind and friendly. For my Greeks out there be aware that a member of the staff speaks Greek so be careful what you might say in our language. We payed 12.200 forints which is about 30€ and left a 2.000 forints tip so 5€ since service isn’t included and in Hungary the appropriate tip is 10%-12%. Let me also say we were foul and almost couldn’t finish our food (we are pretty big eaters) and the food and check came extremely fast. Would definitely go again if we visit Budapest in the future!!! Also the decor is amazing and adds great character to the atmosphere and...
