I've been wanting to try Rajdhani for some time, and finally got there yesterday (Monday) at about 14:30. The place is not very large, with a handful of tables downstairs and several more on the mezzanine up a flight of stairs. It's not a fancy looking place, but it's comfortable. At that hour, the few other diners still at tables were nearly finished with their meals, but we still needed to sit upstairs.
The menu has a good selection of Indian dishes, even including a few with Manchurian influences (check your maps), and also includes the expected mango lassi and other drinks and beers. We opted for sparkling water.
My wife and I ordered a straightforward lunch meal of chicken tikka (tandoor cooked pieces of marinated chicken breast), spinach dal, vegetable biryani, garlic naan and cucumber raita. It was more than enough food for us, and we really packed it in this day, as the food was delicious.
The waiter was very friendly, took our order, and about 10-15 minutes later the chicken tikka, along with a mint sauce and mango chutney, and the biryani with yet another side sauce arrived. We waited a couple minutes thinking the rest of our meal was coming, but our appetites soon took over and we started eating, hoping the other item would be there soon. They were not.
It took another 10-15 minutes for the dal, naan and raita to appear, by which time we were nearly done with the chicken and had made serious inroads into the biryani. And instead of the cucumber raita, we were served plain, which was still very good. I was not sure why the raita came so late, as it required no preparation.
While we were still eating, my wife noticed the restaurant had also prepared a couple of delivery orders, which were waiting on a table downstairs in plastics bags to be picked up, and we theorized the kitchen had interrupted the preparation of our food to deal with those so the delivery person wouldn't have to wait. That would be a bad choice.
Over all, the food was excellent, very nicely cooked and seasoned and accompanied by the proper condiments to add another layer of flavors. And the prices, especially these days, were very reasonable. Our bill came to 10,430 forints, including tip (service not included in the bill). Obviously, it was very bad form to serve an incomplete meal, especially if it were to tend to delivery orders or anything else short of a medical emergency or kitchen fire. There certainly weren't any other customers in the restaurant at the time they needed to deal with.
It was not a particularly warm day, yet the temperature upstairs was significantly, though not uncomfortably, warmer than downstairs. I think it will likely become a problem as we get further into the summer season. Although we did notice air conditioning units on the wall, something tells me they will not be utilized this year due to the high energy costs. And as another reviewer commented recently, the whole restaurant is permeated by the cooking odors, which remain in your clothing and hair long after you leave the restaurant. it's up to you to determine if this is a feature or a bug. The bathrooms could be cleaner and there was nothing to dry your hands with.
My wife and I will return to try other dishes and hope the service glitch was...
Read moreA Delightful Culinary Journey. I recently had the pleasure of dining, and it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere that perfectly set the stage for the incredible meal to come. The food truly stood out. Each dish I tried was bursting with authentic Indian flavors, clearly prepared with fresh ingredients and a masterful touch. The spices were perfectly balanced, offering a rich and nuanced taste without being overwhelmingly hot. It's evident that the chefs here put a lot of passion into their cooking. Beyond the delicious food, the service was impeccable. The staff were attentive, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, offering excellent recommendations that enhanced my dining experience. To top it all off, the prices were surprisingly reasonable, especially considering the high quality of the food and the excellent service. It's a rare find to experience such a fantastic culinary offering that doesn't break the bank. I highly recommend to anyone looking for an authentic and satisfying Indian dining experience. I'm already looking forward to...
Read moreThe Ambiance was totally perfect and the atmosphere was also pretty good but the owner was arrogant and over smart. We have ordered Chicken biryani but there was no chicken and it was not chicken biryani, it was like a new dish from the chef selling it as chicken biryani. Mentioned the same to the arrogant owner as a feedback but he was not able to take it as he feels he is the one who invited chicken biryani and talking patent of it and he know it’s much better than a Hyderabadi. Being rude and arrogant doesn’t add up flavour to ur restaurant, Keep some respect and when you are running a business try to take reviews and feedback. He even clams that you won’t get better biryani in Budapest, it’s was not a long trip or else I would have made him find a better biryani place and the way how to prepare it. Stating Indian restaurant and don’t even provide the Indian taste doesn’t make any sense, Tourists see around Indian restaurants for the flavour nor to fill the stomach. Better to ignore this place, if you feel you want...
