Say Cheese by Laura Patisserie — Restaurant in Budapest

While some sweet-toothed Westerners may generally find the sweets lacking sweetness in Hungary, it is not this case in this lovely little cheesecake and gelato shop, serving Illy coffee.

You can select your cheesecake wonderment by the slice or served in a glass jar. After much deliberation, my final choice was the cherry cheesecake slice, constructed on top of a brownie foundation and topped with a cherry jelly and fresh (not maraschino) cherry. The cheesecake center was so light and creamy like it was made by someone grandmother instead of a commercial kitchen.

I went on a super hot day (36C), and the room was a bit warm although there are two air conditioners running. I would have preferred it to be cooler, so maybe the AC should be inspected. It didn't seem to cool the room...

The cheesecake tastes great. The coffee is simple Illy but at least it's served nicely. The cake prices are a little bit too high.

But the waitress is extremely rude, one of the worst I have ever seen. She didn't say hi, she didn't even looked at us even we were the only one in the shop currently. After a several minutes she just say if she can help or not in a very rude way. When we said what we wanted and said we would like to eat it in place she looked angry. Even after I said to keep the change out of courtesy she didn't even said thanks for it, she just threw the bill at us.

The shop has a nice vibe and could be great but having this kind of service just...

My review is about the cheesecake "jar" which costs nearly 2000 Ft (~€5). I took the Lotus biscoff flavoured, but it had a too natural, unflavoured taste. Also the base crumbles were not biscoff, just some graham crackers, cheese was not that creamy. Maybe their sliced cheesecakes are better, they have the same price. As for the staff, the lady clearly hated working there, she was bored and inattentive. Also while we were eating our order there was a guy (it seemed he is an employee on break or former employee) sitting across from us talking to the lady over the counter loudly about quite inappropriate topics in inappropriate language 😳 Nevertheless it might worth an...
