We booked this hotel because it does have a great location near the city center where you can visit the thermal baths and museums within walking distance. A plus to give it is there is a grocery store called Aldi right next-door where beer and wine and snacks and more are available. The room was spacious and clean and when we arrived early, the hotel accommodated us and got us into our room immediately. Be warned that room and bathroom lighting is dark. Unfortunately, our experience at the hotel was not pleasant. Two days prior to our reservation we tried to call the hotel to confirm our reservation and no one answered the phones, ending with a disconnection. Such lack of communication continued as once we were in our room and tried to call the front desk, we could not reach anyone without being hung up on several times. Our first request to the front desk was just to have two face towels provided as the hotel provided two large towels, only one face towel and a bath rug for the two of us. The staff accommodated us bringing us one more face towel. Great. from that time on the hotel seemed to run out of face towels and could not provide us to face towels. They told us they ran out of face towels. On our second day there when the maid was making one of the beds in our room she knocked over a glass of red wine located on the nightstand. The spill stained two of my bags and clothing, including a private pillow and pillowcase I had brought. The maid took my pillowcase and tried to wipe up the mess, but there was so much wine spilled that my little travel pillow case was not sufficient to wipe up all the wine on the floor and off of my suitcase (who the crap use the customers case to wipe up a mess ?) I grabbed the one face towel in the room to try to help clean up and of course it got soaked as well. The maid spoken no English so when I tried to tell her she needed to clean this up and repair my stained luggage, she just kept indicating with her hands that She didn’t understand. She called someone on her phone and then left the room without mopping the wine off the floor or cleaning the mess off my suitcases, leaving my travel pillow and pillowcase wine soaked. I washed up my bags the best I could, as well as my pillow and pillowcase and I reported the incident the next morning to the manager, who of course apologized profusely. I said someone needed to come mop the floor and at least replace the face towels and I still need two face towels. I reported this situation again to another manager who apologized and said he would bring up some face towels. Unfortunately, again when he came up, he brought more bath towel saying they were out of face towels. Housekeeping did come clean the room while we were gone the next day touring. But when we got back there were no face towels, there was still wine on the floor and the one wine soaked face towel I had used tto mop up the maid’s wine mess was still in the room. Even worse, I had washed out my pillowcase and my travel pillow and found that the maid had thrown them both on the floor after her cleaning. Really? She threw my travel pillow on the floor? Looked like a revenge thing to me because I had reported her to a manager. Finally, upon checking out I told yet another manager of my stained and wine smelling luggage and the difficulties we had faced with just trying to get someone to come up and clean up the wine mess the maid had it created and of course he profusely apologized. I requested that he comp the room for the last two days we had to deal with this and he said he could not do that. I told him I took photos and would publish them. One manager did agree to comp the one beer and the one sparkling water we took out of the mini fridge. Just be warned that service and cleaning of any kind at this...
Read moreI recently stayed at the Exe Budapest Center and was extremely disappointed with my experience, especially given the exorbitant price of €500 per night for a normal double room. As I already stayed there before, I knew the state of the rooms. I made a reservation as I don't mind spending a bit on luxury. Nevertheless, when I saw the price, I was sure they renovated the hotel. They did not.||The room did not have a balcony. The furniture and overall feel of the room were dated, showing significant wear and tear. The headboard of the bed was crooked, which added to the rundown appearance. All the TV channels were black, rendering the TV useless. Despite requesting room cleaning, it was not done, which is unacceptable for such a high rate. I tried to talk to the manager of the hotel, but he was »working in another hotel«. ||For €500 per night for a double room, one expects a five-star level of service and quality. Unfortunately, this hotel barely meets a four-star standard. The pricing is short of deceptive and feels almost like stealing given the subpar experience. While the location is central and the staff friendly and accommodating, the lack of maintenance and high cost make this hotel a poor choice. If the room had been priced more reasonably, I might have overlooked many of these issues, but at this rate, it was simply not worth it. I would advise potential guests to reconsider their options and look for better value elsewhere.||I understand the concept of surge pricing, where prices increase due to higher demand. However, when you charge €500 per night, the level of service and quality must reflect that price. Anything beyond a reasonable point for the provided services feels unjust and deceptive. It's crucial for hotels to balance pricing with the quality they offer to avoid misleading their customers.||I hope you will find this feedback in good faith and that you will strive to either update the hotel and its services or adjust...
Read moreA disappointing birthday stay at a 4-star hotel
I chose this hotel to celebrate my birthday, expecting a quality experience from a 4-star hotel in a renowned chain like Eurostars. Unfortunately, the reality turned out to be extremely disappointing in every way, with the exception of the central location and a breakfast that, while normal, did not compensate for the serious shortcomings encountered.
Structure The hotel presents itself with outdated and neglected furnishings, a sign of a lack of maintenance that negatively affects the overall image.
Staff The staff's attitude was embarrassing to say the least. The reception and customer service staff seemed constantly disinterested, with their eyes downcast and perpetually busy with their cell phones. I had to report the non-functioning bathroom light three times, without any action being taken. The next morning, after the umpteenth report, I was informed that the maintenance service was not available the previous day. This justification, in addition to being unacceptable, demonstrates a serious lack of internal communication and attention to guests' needs. No one bothered to apologize for the inconvenience, nor to offer me an alternative solution, such as a room change or an upgrade.
Rooms The conditions of the room were downright shabby. In addition to the lack of lighting in the bathroom, I found the absence of a toilet brush, a bathtub with obvious signs of mold and deteriorated silicone, and the absence of an adequate ventilation system. To make matters worse, upon my arrival I found hair in the bathtub and on the bed, further proof of the poor cleaning of the room.
Unmet request At check-in, I had specifically requested a room with a shower and, after being assured of its availability, I instead found a room with a bathtub. This further inconsistency contributed to making my stay even more frustrating.
Conclusions I strongly advise against staying...
