My wife picked out this restaurant last minute and wow it was a real winner. Amazing food that we had to come back to experience one more time to try some more of their food. To start with their bread and butter is just exquisite. It could almost be a dessert. The first day I got the cod and my wife got a burger. It was some of the best cod I have ever gotten. The flavors work so well with this and it was cooked perfectly. I can’t remember much about my wife’s cheeseburger other than it being good. If I were to complain about one thing it would be the fries. I am not a skinny fry fan and I realize that some people are so maybe you’ll like them even if you’re wrong. Lol. The second day I got the arctic char and my wife got the lamb. I really enjoyed the arctic char but my wife’s lamb was unfortunately a bit tough. The flavor was at least good but I would expect it to be more tender. All in it wasn’t perfect but still totally deserving of 5 stars as the food was delicious and the prices were fair for Iceland.

we came to kef restaurant years ago and decided to revisit today its still as good as we had previously remembered we started with the lobster soup, which was really well done and contained multiple pieces of lobster (or langoustine?) my girlfriend had the lightly smoked cod for her main, and while she did enjoy it, she actually complained to me that it was too much food the cod dish came with mashed potatoes, cauliflower puree, asparagus, hazelnuts, and shrimp i opted for the lamb tenderloins, as i try to order lamb a few times when visiting iceland the lamb was cooked well - i ordered it to be cooked medium - and the dish came with broccolini, parsnips, potato gratin, pickled shallots, and charred shallot we made it out of there at about 20,000 ISK, which is somewhere around $150 USD it was another memorable experience, and we will be back again, probably on our next trip

Wow, what an amazing find. This restaurant is such a treat. The staff is wonderful and it's located inside a beautiful hotel. You might feel underdressed when getting there but most people wear hiking clothes in Iceland so there is no dress code. We had the Kef Burger and the Lagoustine and Shrimp salad, both incredible dishes. For dessert, we had the French chocolate cake which came with ice cream, fruit and mousse - all delicious. The restaurant is really pretty on the inside with high glass ceilings. We will definitely come back and maybe even stay at the hotel. If you want to treat yourself before you fly back to your home country, this is exactly where you should go. We didn't have a booking but still managed to get a table. It's also not expensive at all when compared to other places which are possibly tourist traps.

The KEF Restaurant is located inside the Hotel Keflavik. Based on the reviews, we selected this restaurant for our “farewell dinner” in Iceland, and we were not disappointed. The service was attentive, friendly and with a very good humor. I asked for a recommendation, and our server insisted that the Fish Tongue (Gellur) were not only unique to Iceland, but they tasted great. The dish is made of deep fried cod tongues, with potato salad and herb mayo. That’s comfort food if I ever heard it. I tried it (my wife would not), and it tasted great. I cannot wait to have this again, when I return to Iceland, and the Blue Lagoon. I’ll probably stay here too, since it is close the airport and Blue Lagoon.

I had a great experience at the Kef Restaurant. The service was friendly and courteous. The lighting is perfect for a couples night out. They have a large drink menu but a small food menu. They provided bread and butter free of charge. The only reason I rated it four stars instead of five is the cost. I ordered the tuna for about $23 and recieved three small savory tortilla chips with a green garnish on top with two thinly sliced pieces of seared tuna. The presentation was nice but I was still very hungry after I finished it. Their deserts are wonderful!

Entering through the hotel you definitely feel like you should at least be dressed in smart-casual dining clothes, we definitely were on the more casual side with hiking boots etc after a week of touring Iceland, this however was no issue. The staff were nice, attentive and professional. Food was good, below are photos of the cod tongue starter, lamb, arctic char and cod. Was a little pricey compared to other restaurants (slight mark-up due to the hotel I imagine) and I would say the cod dish was slightly too salty for me.
