Keflavik Micro Suites — Hotel in Reykjanesbær

Stayed here in June for my quarantine. I absolutely loved it. I ordered food from the supermarket and and all was super easy (there is a fridge in the room) It’s very close to the airport so very convenient(10 min with taxi). Also very close to the harbor and lovely to take a small walk around. Right on the opposite side is a quiet hidden diner - they brought me vegan food to my place - I loved it :D I also needed to work for few days. I can definitely say that the internet in my room worked 100%. So much better than back home in Germany - not very surprising though! It’s self check in and I received my code right in time even tho we had problems with the payment at first. Also when I had problems or questions in these 6 days I was always able to get I contact with their service (they even provided me powder to wash my clothes after I asked - so nice!) There was also coffee for free and they kindly organized me vegan snacks - I absolutely appreciated that! The room is very modern and everything was super clean - I loved the shower! Big smart TV with the opportunity to watch Netflix and so on. As I had to wait few hours for my negative test result on my last day, they even let me wait in the room until late afternoon - for free! Can’t find anything negative tbh. I absolutely felt safe and good at this place and I would always come back! Thanks for making the first days in Iceland comfortable even tho I had to isolate myself. We could smell a very strong fishy smell in the corridor before we even opened our apartment door. When we walked into the room it made us gag it was so bad. We opened all windows and tried to contact the owners but they did not respond until the following day after we had left for the airport home. We gave them the opportunity to visit and smell it for themselves and they didn’t respond. They tried to say it was the geothermal water even though we had not run water and the smell was not the light Sulphur smell you can get when you run a tap in Iceland. I think they were trying to insult our intelligence. It was the dreadful fishy smell you get from toilet drains and it was coming up out of the shower drain. I told them I would be wanting a full refund and they have refused. They said, This case has been discussed by management and we hereby decline your refund request. Not sure what they have exactly discussed as they have not engaged with me as they probably think we will never stop there again and are going to write them a BAD review so why bother giving us a refund. The stay was booked through Expedia and I have raised the issue with them too who phoned the owners and got the same negative response that we got saying we are not getting a refund and we can write a bad review. Clearly they have no morals and are happy to scam people out of money in their sub standard not fit for purpose apartment. The disgusting fishy smelling room we stayed in...
