Visited Malai Thai recently and had a mixed experience. One of our group had an allergic reaction due to peanut cross-contamination. Thankfully, it wasn’t severe, but it was definitely concerning. When we first arrived, the place was really quiet since we were the only customers. But later, a big group of tourists came in, and it got really loud. We’re tourists too, but the noise was a bit much. Our order also got mixed up, which was frustrating. On the bright side, the staff were very nice and tried to be helpful. Overall, the friendly staff couldn’t quite make up for the allergy issue, noise, and order mix-up. Hoping they can improve in these areas.

we visited malai thai today as one of our last meals prior to flying out of keflavik it is a family run spot, and it feels very at home, nice, and quiet we had the panang curry with beef, egg noodle with chicken, and the chicken spring rolls malai thai is major value for the price you are paying, we paid about $50 usd for the three dishes, including two soft drinks - i was able to pay with my amex, which has become more difficult in iceland worth a visit if in keflavik and hungry, chances are there will not be a wait and the food comes out very fast

This is a cozy restaurant that serves a delicious meal. The Tom Yum is very spicy and chicken curry is mild spicy as well (photos show case uploaded). I was a bit disappointed for the fried rice but probably this is a local taste I suppose. If you would like to have a dinner with your family they have some offer for up to six people. The price are not so bad compared to similar restaurants in Iceland that can rip your budget... I will definitely recommend to try it out...

Sighs wish we could have tasted the food. After walking in, the (male) host told us to grab menus and sit down anywhere and he would come take our order. 20 mins went by and he never came by to take our order or offer water. He seemed busy so we stayed patient as we watched him bust a table and restock their buffet. Suddenly a large group came in and sat to eat the buffet which he continued serving and restocking, by then he got even busier so we decided to go up to the counter to put our order in.. when we finally put the order in he then notified us that they were too busy to make one of the dishes we ordered. Ordered everything else and went back to our seats. We watched more people come in and at that time decided that if it took that long to sit and get our order in it would take longer to get our food which would cut it too close to our flight time (40 mins in) so we ended up just canceling our order and left.

I understand you have a business to run and are very busy (low staffed) but you should still treat all customers the same no matter how large or small your party is. Very disappointed, wanted to support...

Used to buy food here regularly, I heard the owners changed and maybe that's why I've seen change in my food? My pad Thai has been clumped together and rubbery the last two times I've ordered, needed knife to cut through and even then I struggled.. One time there was so much oil from the pad Thai container it leaked through the bag and ruined my new black pants with oil stain, there's no way to get it out. I'm so upset because this was my favourite restaurant ☹️ Everyone is always so kind and I'm so sad I can't order takeaway anywhere now, there's no good restaurant...
