Hotel Jazz was the first hotel we visited during our 9 days Iceland road trip. We arrived late at night (00.25) from Vienna and arrived at around 1.20 am at the hotel.
The hotel is a 3 star self service hotel - the keys were waiting for us at the reception.
We booked a family room (1 double bed, 1 single bed) which was located on the ground floor.
The room was clean and well tempered, quiet and ok from the size. According to the international hotel stars its exactly what you can imagine for 3 stars - even a little above.
The breakfast is also self-service. You get hard boiled eggs, ham, salami, 3 different breads, fruits, different spreads, fresh coffee, juice, crackers, different jams, cereals, etc. Exactly what you can expect for 3 stars - even a little better. What we kind of missed at breakfast was scrambled eggs or omelets - but considering its self service AND it starts at 4am going until 10am that would be not possible to be kept fresh.
Overall it was a great 2 days and 2 nights stay, near KEF airport, and can be fully recommended for a stay after a night flight, if you want to stay near KEF airport :)
Thank you for hosting us.
Remark: The "stars" I give are reviewing on what you get for your money in connection on what you can expect according to the "stars hotel classification" (I.e. if a 5 star hotel misses 24h room service it will not receive 5...
Read moreWas never sent check in information despite emailing the day before check-in. At 4pm (check-in time) I called my credit card company's travel branch that I booked the hotel through, which then contacted the hotel. The hotel refused to provide the door code and insisted that the only way to get it was to email, which I had already done with no success. Through my card company I was able to cancel and rebook, but that added a lot of unnecessary stress to my day in Reykyavik.
The do not answer the email and they do not pick up the phone. If you want consisten travel plans, ditch booking this hotel. You will find several reviews like mine if you look through the reviews by most recent.
It seems many of the positive reviews were left back when the hotel actually had a front desk and people on-site. That seems to not be the case anymore, as there is certainly no front desk. I would also be highly suspicious of reviews that praise the customer service, as again there is no front desk and seems to have not had one for a couple years...
Read moreWe choose this hotel as it was close to the airport and we had an early morning flight. |It’s easy to find and parking was available.|Room sizes were ok - kettle with coffee & tea where available.||You are advised via email a code for the Main door to get in, but when we arrived the door was not locked and Room keys were left on reception desk with our names on them - it was only 9 pm and there was nobody around. |During the night (3 am ) another guest seems to have had a problem / confused as they tried to enter our room and key card was buzzing and kept trying the door handle. They stopped when from behind the door we told them they are trying to get into our room !! We never found out if room was double booked or just the guests made a mistake in the room number. ||Glass bathroom door leading to bedroom provides NO privacy at all. The sink is not in the bathroom but rather in the bedroom. |No usb outlets and just a few plug connections (non...
