I never post reviews like this, but here we are:
I have never, ever in my entire life experienced the type of rude attitude as I did by the female who said that "she runs the establishment".
I tried multiple times to strike up a conversation in a kind manner only to have some condescending response from her. Example: Me- "hey, what is your name?" Her- "I don't have a name." as she stormed off. (She wasn't joking.)
I and my two other friends saw and heard her berate two guys from Spain who cruised in for a few cocktails by telling them that "they weren't of age" to be there. After they showed their passports, she begrudgingly served them. (I would have left at that point if I were them, and, after hearing that, I and my friends finished our drinks and left.)
To whoever owns this place- this person will destroy your establishment. I will never, ever walk into this place again!
I have worked in food and beverage for over twenty years, and I have never experienced anything like what occurred last night. I spent a lot of money there, and I am absolutely appalled about the situation.
If this female does not get released, it is crazy.
The male bartender who was there was very, very kind, so it's not me making up a story for the sake of it.
This person has no place in this industry.
Ownership: for the sheer sake of your success, this individual needs to be let go.
To the tourists: GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!Please, trust, believe, and consider my aforementioned statements. As long as she is there, this place is a giant dumpster.
I feel very bad for the ownership as one incident should not reflect nor advocate closure of a place, but this is just insane.
To ownership: If you didn't or do not know, well, now you do, and here is your opportunity to rectify the situation by alleviating this person of her duties. I do not wish you ill. I was really enjoying your place, but if you keep this woman on your staff after knowing what you now know, it will be a shame.
Owners: look at Bill's review from a few 4 weeks ago. I guarantee this to be the same person **Edit: I'll do you one better- the photo has been removed for your sake.
Why not get security to handle those issues then? It's never cool to harass employees nor is it cool to be rude to patrons, so as a business owner, why don't you handle it? Or will you continue to let both employees and patrons be ridiculed?
Your response for justification of the actions is laughable, embarrassing, and incoherent at the very least and portrays your true character that which seems to be lacking any morality, ethics, or comprehensive thought.
As far as your other reviews: these are patrons who are happy-go-lucky to be in Iceland - a fad at the most. The reasonable ones are the legitimately poor reviews. I cannot even comprehend your justification of this. Equally appalling and amazing! Apparently your staff learns well from you.
Don't worry. As I mentioned, I'll never return, but the blood has now been drawn and your business will...
Read moreDillon Whiskey Bar is a true Reykjavik gem—cozy, atmospheric, and packed with character. Tucked just off Laugavegur, it’s the kind of place that feels effortlessly cool without trying too hard. With its dim lighting, vintage rock vibes, and wall-to-wall whiskey selection, it’s the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring the city.
We came in for drinks and ordered Shanky’s Old Fashioneds, and they were absolutely fantastic. The bartenders clearly know their craft—each cocktail was perfectly balanced, smooth, and thoughtfully prepared. Shanky’s smooth, slightly sweet profile gave the classic Old Fashioned a unique twist without losing its bold, whiskey-forward essence. The garnish and presentation were simple but spot-on, and the drink had just the right amount of bite and depth.
The vibe at Dillon is relaxed and inviting, whether you’re grabbing a quiet drink at the bar or enjoying live music upstairs. The staff were welcoming and genuinely friendly, happy to talk whiskey or help you choose the right pour.
If you’re a fan of great cocktails, good music, and a laid-back atmosphere, Dillon is a must-visit in Reykjavik. We loved every minute and will definitely be back for another round...
Read moreThe only place I was disappointed in on my travels to Iceland. I went here with my wife to look for a little bit of Good whiskey/bourbon and was thoroughly disappointed with the service. The owner of the bar (she called herself this, later found out the owners are out of town) told me how to taste whiskey did not ask my wife if she wanted anything to drink brought out the credit card machine immediately told me I couldn’t take a picture of her, but I could take a picture of the bottles and the whiskey, not that I even asked to take a picture of her. I tongue in cheek ask her if it was because she was running from the law. She matter-of-factly said she thought it was rude that people took pictures of bartenders without their permission which I would never do . I asked for a flight of whiskeys she chose them for me and being someone who’s done the bourbon Trail these are more like if you lived in Scotland. She was not from Iceland. She was from England, so maybe that was part of the issue, but I would not recommend this place to anyone who’s looking for...
